Iberia is the official Euro Truck Simulator 2 DLC that adds Spain and Portugal. It’s a paid map expansion from SCS Software released on April 8, 2021. At launch, SCS presented it as its biggest DLC to date: more than 580,000 km² of peninsula and 49 cities. It only needs the base game, connects to the rest of Europe by road and by ferry, and it’s also required to use ProMods and the map mods focused on the peninsula.
What the Iberia DLC includes
The official Steam page sums up the content like this:
- Landscapes ranging from the semi-arid deserts of the southeast to the conifer forests of the north, with the Tabernas Desert as a highlight.
- Iberian ports connected to the sea routes of the rest of Europe.
- Car factories that ship parts and vehicles.
- Service areas and gas stations inspired by real ones.
- Medieval castles, landmarks and villages with narrow streets.
- Coastal views, including the Rock of Gibraltar seen from the Bay of Algeciras.
- Landmarks such as the Guadiana International Bridge.
- New ambient sound, mountainous terrain with its own rock formations, and exclusive Steam achievements.
SCS’s blog added more details at launch: viewpoints with cinematic views (the first time they appeared in Europe), farms with vineyards and agricultural operations, and cargo tied to local industry, such as textiles, food and beverages, metal, chemicals, timber, canned fish or aerospace parts.
Countries and cities
Iberia covers Spain and Portugal. At launch it had 49 cities with companies to load and unload at. According to the community wiki, there are now 51: 39 in Spain and 12 in Portugal, because Beja and Soria arrived later in a free update. Andorra isn’t part of the DLC, and Gibraltar appears as a view from Algeciras, not as an area of the map you can drive through.
You’ll find the full list of Spanish cities, which companies are there and how to get to them in our guide to Euro Truck Simulator 2 Spain.
Release date and free updates
- December 2019: SCS announces the expansion.
- April 8, 2021: Iberia comes out. At the same time, Vive la France! gets Bayonne, Lacq and new links in Toulouse and Bordeaux for free to connect France to the peninsula.
- Late 2021: free new roads for DLC owners, the N-234 north of Madrid and a route from Sines through Beja to the outskirts of Seville. Version 1.43 brings the cities of Beja and Soria.
- Version 1.46 (November 2022): a heavy machinery depot on the outskirts of Madrid with its own highway exit, green-and-white regional Iberian signage, and city intro videos.
Iberia requirements
- You need Euro Truck Simulator 2. Iberia doesn’t work on its own.
- You don’t need any other DLC. You can get in and out of the peninsula by ferry from the north. If you have Vive la France!, you can also drive in by road from France.
- For hardware, the DLC’s Steam page shows the same requirements as the game: at minimum 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-6400 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 8 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 660 or Radeon RX 460 with 2 GB and 25 GB of free space. The recommended setup is an i5-9600 or Ryzen 5 3600, 12 GB of RAM and a GTX 1660 or RX 590. It also runs on macOS and Linux. There’s more detail in Euro Truck Simulator 2 system requirements.
- It includes a Spanish translation, like the rest of the game.
When you buy the DLC on Steam, it installs and activates automatically: when you launch the game, the Iberian roads are already on the map. In Convoy multiplayer, anyone who doesn’t own Iberia can’t enter the peninsula, even when playing with someone who does.
Iberia with ProMods and Spain mods
Iberia is the foundation for almost every Iberian map mod:
- ProMods: since version 2.55 (April 2021) it’s built on the Iberia DLC instead of its old Spain. Today it requires every official map expansion, Iberia included. You’ll find the step-by-step in how to install ProMods.
- Iberia ProMods Rework: a ProMods add-on that rebuilds Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Gibraltar with new cities, roads and junctions. It needs ProMods and all the map DLCs. Before installing it, check its mod page to see which ProMods and game version it’s made for.
- Portugal Rebuild: a ProMods add-on that rebuilds Portugal with more cities, roads, logistics areas and real companies. It requires ProMods and the Iberia DLC, and it’s already compatible with ETS2 1.61.
These add-ons load above ProMods in the Mod Manager, and each one comes with its own load order. If the game updates and the mod hasn’t yet, wait for the compatible version before loading your save. You’ll find more options in our ETS2 maps section.
Frequently asked questions
Is Iberia included in Euro Truck Simulator 2?
No. It’s a paid DLC sold separately that needs the base game. Without it, Spain and Portugal don’t appear on the official map.
How many cities does the Iberia DLC have?
SCS announced 49 cities at launch. With the later free updates there are 51, according to the community wiki.
Do I need Vive la France! to play in Iberia?
No. Without it you get there by ferry. With it you also get a road connection between France and the peninsula, through Bayonne.
Are Andorra and Gibraltar included?
Not as drivable areas in the official DLC: Gibraltar can be seen from Algeciras. Andorra and Gibraltar do appear in ProMods add-ons like Iberia ProMods Rework.
Does Iberia work with American Truck Simulator?
No. It’s only for Euro Truck Simulator 2. American Truck Simulator has its own DLCs for US states.
