What this mod does
Old Engine Swap is a mod by Happy_Coper that adds old engines as extra options on several SCS trucks. It doesn’t replace any stock engine: the new ones show up next to the usual ones in the truck configuration.
Included engines
- Mercedes-Benz OM 542.
- Scania DC16 21 730 EEV V8.
- MAN D2868 500 V8.
- Volvo D16 G750.
Supported trucks
DAF XF 105, MAN TGX Euro 6, Mercedes-Benz Actros MP3 and Volvo FH3. All four engines are available on every one of them, so you can, for example, put a Scania V8 in the DAF.
What makes it special
According to the author, each engine keeps its original power and torque and, as far as possible, its character. He plans to keep adding more engines and more trucks. The description is also available in German.
Version
It’s been out for ETS2 1.61 and later since October 3, 2026, and it’s a very lightweight file because it only adds definitions. The author doesn’t list any known conflicts, but it will most likely clash with other mods that change the engines on those same trucks.

Requirements
- Euro Truck Simulator 2 updated to version 1.61
- No DLC or other mods needed
How to install it
- Open the mod's page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
- Wait for Steam to finish downloading.
- Launch ETS2 and open the Mod Manager.
- Enable "Old Engine Swap" and load your save.
- Take a DAF XF 105, MAN TGX Euro 6, Mercedes-Benz Actros MP3 or Volvo FH3 to a garage.
- Pick one of the four new engines in the engine section.
Common problems
Does it remove the stock engines?
No, the four engines are added as extra options.
Can I fit an engine from another brand?
Yes, the author lets you fit any of the four on every supported truck.
Will more trucks be added?
