What this mod does
PAAG (Perfect All Around Gearboxes) is a mod by Kimo that adds two universal gearboxes with ratios designed by the author. The idea is that you don’t need to swap gearboxes depending on the load: they pull hard from a stop on steep grades with heavy cargo and, on flat ground, let you cruise at low RPM.
What’s included
- PAAG 16/4 gearbox: 16 forward gears, 4 reverse gears and a three-stage retarder.
- Two versions depending on the differential: 3.48 for engines with peak torque at 900 rpm and 3.74 for engines with peak torque at 1,000 rpm.
- A 0.7 s shift time and three auxiliary brake levels: 50%, 100% and 100% with engine brake and downshifting.
Compatible trucks
It works with the game’s stock trucks. The author also lists the Ford F-Max, the Kenworth K100-E, the Freightliner FLB and the Mack R, and warns that he doesn’t plan to support other modded trucks.
Tip
The top gears need a powerful engine: with small engines the truck won’t pull.
Version
It’s a mod from 2018 that the author keeps up to date: version 1.61a, from September 17, 2026, is the compatibility update for 1.61. It’s about 112 KB. There’s a sister version for ATS.

Requirements
- Euro Truck Simulator 2 updated to version 1.61
- No DLC or other mods required
How to install it
- Open the mod's page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Wait for Steam to finish downloading.
- Launch ETS2 and open the Mod Manager.
- Enable “PAAG - Perfect All Around Gearboxes” and load your save.
- Take your truck to a service shop.
- In the transmission section, pick one of the PAAG 16/4 gearboxes based on your engine's peak torque.
Common problems
Which gearbox should I pick?
The 3.48 differential one for engines with peak torque at 900 rpm, and the 3.74 one for engines that peak at 1,000 rpm.
Does it work with trucks from other modders?
The author only lists the Ford F-Max, the Kenworth K100-E, the Freightliner FLB and the Mack R, and doesn't plan to add more.
My truck won't pull in the top gears
The author warns that those gears need a powerful engine.
