What this mod does
Realistic Rain & Water & Thunder Sounds is the storm mod by Kass, the author of Realistic Brutal Graphics and Weather. Although the name talks about sounds, it also changes how rain and lightning look.
What it changes in the game
- Over 40 thunderclaps recorded in high quality, with different sound inside and outside the cab.
- More realistic lightning and new dynamic flashes since the 1.61 version.
- Rain on the windshield with drops that move, stick and fade depending on speed.
- Water spray from the tires of your truck and of traffic.
- Water effects on the sea, rivers, lakes and beaches, and more natural snow.
- Tweaks to the truck’s exterior camera zoom.
Who it’s for
For anyone who drives a lot at night or in bad weather and wants storms with more presence. It’s a good fit if you already use other mods by Kass, although the page doesn’t detail compatibility with other weather mods.

Version 10.7 updated it for ETS2 1.61 and 10.8 fixes files. It’s a free download from TruckyMods.

How to install it
- Download version 10.8 from the mod's page on TruckyMods.
- Copy the .scs file to Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod.
- In the Mod Manager, activate Realistic Rain & Water & Thunder Sounds.
- If you use other weather or rain mods, test them together on a test profile.
- Find a storm (or wait for rain) to notice the changes.

Common problems
Does it only change sounds?
No. Besides thunder, it changes lightning, rain on the windshield, water spray and water effects.
Is it compatible with other weather mods?
The author doesn't say on the page; if you use another rain mod, test the combination before playing for real.
Does it work on 1.60?
Versions 10.5 and 10.6 were for 1.60; 10.7 and 10.8 are made for 1.61.
