What it does

• Keyboard steering feels more natural and realistic.
• It lets you turn smoothly at higher speeds without rolling over, even with realistic suspension enabled.
• The author says it’s compatible with all truck physics mods.

Installation and settings

• Give it high priority, at the very top of the Mod Manager.
• The author recommends setting steering sensitivity to 0.75.

It’s very handy if you don’t have a wheel or a controller and drive with the keyboard only, which is the most common setup when you’re starting out.

Version

The description says it’s made for 1.58.x and also works on earlier versions. The last update was on March 9, 2026. Players in the comments are asking for it to be updated for 1.60 and 1.61. The author explains that keeping it up to date with every version takes a lot of time, and accepts donations via Ko-fi. The author also wants to release an ATS version.

One player sums up the usual problem: with every game patch, you have to wait for an update or go back to stock steering.

How to install it

1. Open the “[ETS2] Smooth Keyboard Steering” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
2. Launch Euro Truck Simulator 2 and wait for Steam to finish the download.
3. Open your profile's Mod Manager and enable the mod.
4. Move it to the very top of the list.
5. In Controls, set steering sensitivity to 0.75.
