What this mod does
Steerable Lowboys is a mod by Genkolao that makes every axle on heavy-haul lowboy trailers steer automatically. That way the trailer follows the truck’s line better in tight turns, and it’s easier to avoid clipping curbs, signs and corners.
Affected trailers
- The SCS lowboy in all its variants: 2, 3, 4 and 5 axles, spread axle and extendable.
- The Kässbohrer SLA lowboy, if you own the Kässbohrer Trailer Pack DLC.
- The Schwarzmüller lowboy, if you own the Schwarzmüller Trailer Pack DLC.
It applies to owned trailers, Special Transport and Heavy Cargo jobs, and traffic.
How it works
Steering is automatic and can’t be controlled from the cab. The wheels can’t be locked, so the author asks you to be careful when reversing. The mod only changes the steering axle values in the chassis definitions: it doesn’t include any models or textures.
Version
The author tested it on 1.61 and released it on October 9, 2026. It doesn’t need any DLC: DLC trailers only change if you own them. It’s the author’s own ETS2 version, inspired by “Steerable SCS Trailers” by Bruce C. for ATS.

Requirements

- Euro Truck Simulator 2 updated to version 1.61
- No DLC or other mods needed
- Optional: Kässbohrer Trailer Pack and Schwarzmüller Trailer Pack DLC for their lowboys
How to install it
- Open the mod's page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Wait for Steam to finish the download.
- Launch ETS2 and go to the Mod Manager.
- Enable “Steerable Lowboys (ETS2)” and load your save.
- Hook up an owned lowboy or take a Special Transport or Heavy Cargo job.
- When reversing, go slowly: the axles can't be locked.
Common problems
Can I lock the axles?
No. Steering is automatic and can't be locked, so be careful when reversing.
Do I need DLC?
No. The Kässbohrer and Schwarzmüller lowboys only change if you own those DLCs.
Does it affect traffic?
Yes, it also applies to lowboys in traffic.
