What this mod does
Sweden Extended, which started out as Vänern Project, is a map by LaGe that expands Sweden where the game leaves the most gaps. It was born in February 2026 around Lake Vänern and was renamed as it grew northward. Version 4.2 (September 20, 2026) works on ETS2 1.61.
What it adds
- Swedish towns like Säffle, Köpmannebro, Grästorp, Mariestad, Åtorp, Töcksfors, Torsby, Sunne, Svensby, Gällivare, Jokkmokk, Sorsele, Storuman, Alfta, Bollnäs, Byxelkrok and Oskarshamn.
- The Norwegian towns of Drammen and Drøbak.
- Routes along the E45 and more than 15 companies with cargo.
Merger with SSE
Version 4 incorporated Sverige Södra Expansion, Najito’s map, which brought 10 cities. Since then both projects are released together under this name.
Requirements and compatibility
It’s an add-on for the SCS map and requires every map DLC, including Nordic Horizons. For ProMods, the author fixed overlapping areas in 3.2, but doesn’t announce it as compatible: if you combine them, test it first on a separate profile. 4.2 fixes purple lines on the road near Bollnäs and a UI bug. How to install it
- Go to the Sweden Extended page on TruckyMods (LaGe's verified account).
- Download version 4.2.
- Copy the file to Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod.
- Enable it in the Mod Manager.
- If you had Sverige Södra Expansion installed separately, make sure you're not loading it twice.
- Load your profile and look for the new cities on the map of Sweden.

Common problems
Is it the same as Vänern Project?
Yes. The mod was renamed when it expanded into northern Sweden.
Does it work with ProMods?
The author presents it as an add-on for the SCS map. In 3.2 he fixed overlaps with ProMods, but doesn't confirm full compatibility.
What is SSE?
Sverige Södra Expansion, Najito's map, which merged with this one in version 4 and brought 10 cities.
