Hytale is already out: it’s been available in Early Access since January 13, 2026 for Windows PCs, Macs with Apple Silicon and Linux. What still has no date is the final version (1.0), which Hypixel Studios says will take several years, and the console versions. The next big update is Update 7, called Chapter 1, scheduled for October 12, 2026. Below you’ll find the game’s full history, which hasn’t exactly been smooth.
Hytale release date: the short answer
- Early Access: January 13, 2026, available now on the official store.
- Version 1.0: no date. The studio talks about an Early Access period lasting several years and says it will keep it going until the game is polished.
- Consoles and mobile: no date. They’re planned «later on,» after Early Access on PC.
- Steam: no date. The studio said it wouldn’t be on Steam at first.

Updates since launch
Since January, the game has been getting numbered updates. Before each one, the studio publishes a test version (pre-release) with its patch notes so the community can try it out.

Some milestones from this period, according to the official notes and gaming press: Update 5 brought social features like the friends list and early controller support, Update 6 added Hardcore mode and an in-game mod browser, among other things, and in April the studio began testing official server lists.
What’s next: Chapter 1 and the road to 1.0
In July 2026, Hypixel Studios unveiled Chapter 1, the first big content drop of Early Access. According to the outlets that covered the announcement, it includes:
- The game’s first handcrafted dungeon, with a multi-phase boss, the Gobliterator.
- A goblin faction with different enemy types and some friendly goblins, like a merchant.
- A rune system that grants combinable combat abilities.
- New movement and exploration items, like rocket boots, a glider, a grappling hook and a drill.
More chapters will follow. The studio has mentioned a new world generation system (WorldGen V2), a crafting overhaul with companions for your base, and official minigames. Adventure mode, with story and progression, will be built piece by piece through these updates.
As for 1.0, when they got the game back the studio warned that Early Access would last several years, and official support says it will continue «until the game is fully polished.» There’s no date.
Platforms: where Hytale is out
- Windows 10 and 11 PCs: from day one.
- Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer, macOS Tahoe) and Linux (x64, via Flatpak): also since January 13, 2026. Linux launched as experimental support.
