You download Hytale from the official website with the Hytale Launcher, at accounts.hytale.com/download. The launcher is free, but the game isn’t: to play, you have to buy one of its editions on the official store, and there’s no official trial or demo. It’s available for Windows 10 and 11, Macs with Apple Silicon (macOS Tahoe) and Linux. Any «free Hytale,» «Hytale APK» or download from another website is fake or pirated, and it could steal your account or infect you with malware.
Is Hytale free?
No. Hytale is a paid game in Early Access. The cheapest edition, Standard, costs 19.99 USD plus tax. We cover every edition in Hytale price. As far as we know, Hypixel Studios hasn’t announced any free trial, free weekend or demo.

How to download and install Hytale step by step
1. Create your Hytale account
Go to hytale.com and click Account in the top right. You can sign up with Discord, Epic Games, Google, Microsoft or Twitch, or with an email and password at accounts.hytale.com/registration. You’ll be asked for your date of birth (players under 13 need a parent’s or guardian’s consent), to accept the terms and to confirm your email with the link they send you. If it doesn’t arrive, check your spam folder.
You don’t pick your username when you create the account, but after you buy the game.
2. Buy an edition
On store.hytale.com, choose your edition, sign in and pay. Keep the confirmation email with the transaction ID. If someone gifted you the game, redeem the 16-character code at accounts.hytale.com/redeem.
3. Download the launcher
Go to accounts.hytale.com/download. The page detects your operating system and offers you the right file, although you can also pick it manually. Official support stresses that you should always download it from the official Hytale website.
4. Install the launcher
- Windows: double-click the installer, click Next, choose the launcher and game folders and click Install. The launcher opens when it’s done.
- Mac: drag the app into your Applications folder and open it from there.
- Linux: the launcher is distributed as a Flatpak. Install it from the terminal with
flatpak install hytale-launcher-latest.flatpakand open it withflatpak run com.hypixel.HytaleLauncher. If your distro doesn’t have Flatpak, install it first.
5. Sign in and install the game
Open the launcher, sign in with your account and click Install. The launcher downloads the game and, from then on, its updates too. When it’s finished, click Play.
System requirements and storage space
According to the official website, at minimum you need an Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 (or an Apple M1), 8 GB of RAM, a graphics card that supports OpenGL 4.1 and an SSD with 10 GB free (20 GB for the recommended specs). You need an internet connection to download the game and for periodic authentication, but after that you can play offline.
How to avoid fake Hytale downloads
With a game this hyped, there are plenty of websites promising «free Hytale» or «Hytale download full.» To stay safe:
- Only download from the official domains: hytale.com, accounts.hytale.com for your account and the launcher, and store.hytale.com for the store. Support warns that any other site posing as Hytale is probably a phishing attempt.
- There’s no Hytale for mobile. The studio has said there won’t be a mobile version during Early Access, so any Hytale APK is fake.
- It’s not on Steam or consoles. A download «from Steam» or «for PS4» is a scam.
- Don’t use cracks or «alternative launchers» that promise you can play without buying. Besides being piracy, they’re a common way to steal accounts.
- Turn on two-step verification at accounts.hytale.com and never type your codes into non-official websites. Support will never ask you for them.
- Be wary of DMs on Discord that send you to other servers to «verify» your account.
How to uninstall Hytale
To remove just the game, open the launcher settings and choose Uninstall. To remove the launcher too:
- Windows: search for «Hytale» in the Start menu, right-click it and choose Uninstall.
- Mac: move the launcher from Applications to the Trash.
- Linux: run
flatpak uninstall com.hypixel.HytaleLauncher.
