What this mod does
Pathfinder, by Hexvane, finds whichever biome you ask for and marks it on your compass. It’s inspired by Minecraft’s Nature’s Compass and comes in handy for finding a glacier, a desert or any specific area without wandering around for hours.
How to use it
- Craft the Pathfinder Biome Map at the workbench, in the Tools category, with 2 light leather and 3 life essences.
- Right-click to open the search menu, pick the biome and click Search: a marker you can see from far away appears on your compass.
- It also works with commands:
/pathfinder search <biome>(for example, Valley_Glacier),/pathfinder listand/pathfinder clear;/pfis the shortcut.
How it works
It searches in a spiral from your position by querying world generation, without loading chunks or freezing the server, with a maximum radius of 5000 blocks by default. Markers are saved in player data. It only supports v1 world generation (ChunkGenerator).
Update 7
Version 1.3.0 (October 13, 2026) works with 0.7 and fixes the map’s texture when you hold it. It has no dependencies and uses the CC BY 4.0 license. The page doesn’t say whether it can already locate the new Update 7 biome, The Guttering Hollows: check with /pathfinder list. More about the world in zones and biomes.

Requirements
- Hytale (Early Access) on PC or server, version 0.7 (file Pathfinder-1.3.0.jar)
- No dependencies
- World using v1 generation (ChunkGenerator)
How to install it
- Open the Pathfinder page on CurseForge and click Install to set it up with the CurseForge app, or download Pathfinder-1.3.0.jar from the Files tab (the file marked 0.7).
- If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into the mods folder: on Windows, %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world, check Pathfinder in the mod list and save the world settings.
- On a dedicated server, put the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.
- Craft the Pathfinder Biome Map (Workbench, Tools: 2 light leather and 3 life essences) and right-click to search for a biome.

Common problems
Does it load chunks while searching?
No. It queries world generation directly and the search is asynchronous, so it doesn't slow down the server.
How far does it search?
By default, up to 5000 blocks from your position, in a spiral.
How do I remove markers?
With /pathfinder clear for one or /pathfinder clear for all of them.
