What this mod does
Dragonlings, by Hexvane, adds small bipedal dragons you can tame as pets. There are four variants and each one handles a different job: the farm, the furnaces or combat.
The four variants
- Green (forests): harvests nearby ripe crops and can drop the loot into a linked chest. Tamed with life essence.
- Blue (beaches and coasts): waters farmland near its home. Ice essence.
- Red (the Zone 4 Wastes): speeds up nearby furnaces. Fire essence.
- Purple (spawns at night in several biomes): helps you fight. Void essence.
Items
The Dragon Whistle (workbench, Tinkering: 1 gold ingot and 1 wood of any type) gives orders and sets each dragon’s work «home». You heal them with the same essence you tamed them with, and the Dragonling Crate (Farming bench: 1 Capture Crate and 10 life essences) lets you move them without losing their data.
Requirements and Update 7
It runs on Alec’s Tamework, which handles taming, orders and healing. Version 2.4.0 (October 13, 2026) requires Hytale 0.7 and Tamework 5.2.1 or later; the description still mentions 2.5.0, but the changelog is what counts. It’s in active development and may have bugs. Requirements
- Hytale (Early Access) on PC or server, version 0.7 (file Dragonlings-2.4.0.jar)
- Alec's Tamework! 5.2.1 or later (required)
- Life, ice, fire or Void essences to tame and heal them
How to install it
- Open the Dragonlings page on CurseForge and click Install to set it up with the CurseForge app, or download Dragonlings-2.4.0.jar from the Files tab (the file marked 0.7).
- If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into the mods folder: on Windows, %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- Also install Alec's Tamework! 5.2.1 or later and enable it in the same world.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world, check Dragonlings in the mod list and save the world settings.
- On a dedicated server, put the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.
- Find a wild dragonling in its biome and use the matching essence on it to tame it; then craft the Dragon Whistle.

Common problems
Which Tamework version do I need?
5.2.1 or later. The description still says 2.5.0, but the 2.4.0 changelog asks for 5.2.1.
Where do I find each dragon?
The green one in forests, the blue one on beaches and coasts, the red one in the Zone 4 Wastes and the purple one at night in several biomes.
How do I move them somewhere else?
With the Dragonling Crate, crafted at the Farming bench with a Capture Crate and 10 life essences; it keeps their owner and data.
