Alec’s Tamework for Hytale

What this mod does

Alec’s Tamework is the technical foundation several alechilles mods run on. The author makes it clear: it doesn’t add any playable content on its own. If another mod asks for it when you install it, this is the file you need.

• Alec’s Animal Husbandry, the recommended starting point for players.
• Alec’s Cats and Alec’s Nametags.
• HyDragon and mods from other authors that build on it.

What it brings to those mods

Taming, breeding, traits, levels and happiness for creatures; a panel to manage your companions; items to capture and release animals that keep their owner and state; radial menus to give them orders; and population controls for servers, compatible with Simple Claims. Creators configure it with JSON files, no coding required.

Version 5.0.0

Released on October 4, 2026, it completely changes how companions are saved and cuts the mod’s size in half. Back up your world’s universe folder before updating. It automatically imports data from versions 3.x and 4.x; a 2.x world must go through 4.3.x first. It no longer works on 0.5. Some dependent mods, like HyDragon, need their own update.

This mod page was checked with Hytale 0.6 (Update 6). With Update 7 (0.7), released on October 12, 2026, the author has already released a compatible file: version 5.2.1 (October 9, 2026).

Requirements

• Hytale (Early Access) on PC, version 0.7 (5.0.0 file); server 0.6.0 or later
• No external dependencies: it includes Patchwork, Beacon and Creditor
• A mod that uses it, like Alec's Animal Husbandry or Alec's Cats, to notice any change

How to install it

1. Before updating from an earlier version, back up your world's universe folder.
2. Open the Alec's Tamework page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download version 5.0.0 (tagged 0.6) from the Files tab.
3. If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into the mods folder: on Windows, %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
4. Also install the mod that needs it, for example Alec's Animal Husbandry, and check that its version is compatible with Tamework 5.
5. Open Hytale, right-click the world, check Alec's Tamework and the mod that uses it in the mod list and save the world settings.
6. On a dedicated server, place the files in the server's mods folder and restart it; on first startup it will import your saved companions.
