What this mod does
Machinaria, by Hexvane, opens up a new destination: the Rusted Expanse, a scrapyard biome of colossal gears, rusty arches and clockwork enemies. With the parts you salvage, you craft gadgets.
How to get there
The portal key is crafted at the arcanist’s bench and used on an Ancient Gateway to open the way. Every other item comes from the mechanic’s station, which you craft at the workbench.
Gadgets
- Clockwork heart: a special ingredient dropped by the Expanse’s mechanical enemies.
- Bolt gun: a slightly improved crossbow that fires bolts with more bounce. Both it and its ammo are crafted at the mechanic’s station.
- Ancient pocket watch: it stores up time while you carry it in your inventory or backpack. Right-click a processing bench (furnace, campfire…) to spend that time and speed it up; it stacks up to 5 times, each one more expensive.
It was born in the Echoes of the Machine mod jam and the author considers it a work in progress: it’ll grow depending on interest. It has no required dependencies and optionally integrates with Aetherhaven, Cozy Tales – Fishing and MMO Skill Tree.
Version 0.4.2 (September 21, 2026) is for Hytale 0.6. With Update 7, released October 12, 2026, the author has already published a compatible file: 0.5.0, from October 13, 2026.

Requirements
- Hytale (Early Access) on PC, version 0.6 (file Machinaria-0.5.0.jar)

How to install it
- Open the Machinaria page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download Machinaria-0.5.0.jar from the Files tab (the file tagged 0.6).
- If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into your mods folder: on Windows, %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world, tick Machinaria in the mod list and save the world settings.
- On a dedicated server, put the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.
- In-game, craft the portal key at the arcanist's bench and use it on an Ancient Gateway to enter the Rusted Expanse.
