What this mod does
Socket Reforge brings an RPG-style gear upgrade system to Hytale: risky refining, sockets for essences, combinations with special effects and weapons that bond with a spirit.
Refining
Craft the refinement anvil at the workbench and spend refinement globs at the reforge bench to raise a weapon or armor piece up to +15 (configurable cap). Each attempt can improve, worsen or even shatter the piece. Salvaging iron ore at the salvage station gives you 15 globs.
Sockets and essences
- The socket punch opens slots (up to 4 or 5 per piece) and the essence socketing bench (8 iron ingots and 3 wood) fills them.
- Six essences: fire, ice, lightning, life, void and water. Repeating the same essence in a row raises its level, up to 5.
- With every socket filled, resonance kicks in: depending on the order of the essences you get a special effect. Its recipes drop from enemies and chests.
- The iron hammer empties sockets and the void heart repairs broken ones.
There’s also a «lore» socket for spirit gems. Everything can be tuned in-game with /runtimeconfig (operators). It requires HyUI. Version 1.4.3 (August 29, 2026) is for Hytale 0.6; with Update 7, released October 12, 2026, the author has already published a compatible file: 1.4.4-U7, from October 14, 2026.

How to install it
- Open the Socket Reforge page on CurseForge and click Install: the CurseForge app also installs HyUI. If you're doing it manually, download SocketReforge-1.4.4-U7.jar from the Files tab (the file tagged 0.6) and HyUI from its own page.
- Copy the files as is, without unzipping them, into your mods folder: on Windows, %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world, tick Socket Reforge and HyUI in the mod list and save the world settings.
- On a dedicated server, put the files in the server's mods folder and restart it.
- In-game, craft the refinement anvil and the socket punch at the workbench, and get globs by salvaging iron ore.

Common problems
Can I lose a weapon when refining it?
Yes. Each attempt can improve, worsen or shatter the piece. The odds can be changed with /runtimeconfig.
What does resonance do?
When you fill every socket, the order of the essences triggers a special effect, similar to runewords. Recipes come from enemies or chests and, once discovered, don't ask for extra materials.
Does it work with weapons from other mods?
It detects custom weapons by their item category (Items.Weapon), so it should recognize the ones that use it.
Why does the gear I find come with broken sockets?
It's intentional: loot gear arrives with broken sockets that you have to repair with the void heart.
