Calcifer for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

Calcifer is the utility library by sophie (sophiesalacia): it bundles code shared by her mods and small features that don’t deserve a mod of their own. It’s designed for content creators using Content Patcher, who can list it as a dependency. According to Nexus, more than 160 mods use it. On its own it does nothing.

What it adds

• Custom names for item categories.
• Furniture actions: using a piece of furniture can trigger tile actions, for example a furniture catalog that opens its own shop.
• Position adjustments for items displayed on furniture with unusual shapes or sizes.
• NPCs that swim in their schedules, with a swimming look outside of events.

Requirements and compatibility

It needs SMAPI 4.0 or later and only works with 1.6. Version 0.1.0 (March 19, 2024, 17 KB) is the only version released. The author has tested it on Windows; it hasn’t been tested on Linux and Mac, but she expects it to work. It works in single-player and multiplayer. The page doesn’t mention Android.

Documentation for creators is still pending: the author refers people to her Discord. As a player, only install it if a mod asks for it.

Requirements

• Stardew Valley 1.6.x (tested on Windows)
• SMAPI 4.0 or later
• A mod that uses it (it does nothing on its own)

How to install it

1. Install SMAPI first (see its mod page) and launch the game with it once to make sure it works.
2. Open the Calcifer page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Calcifer 0.1.0). You need a free Nexus account to download.
3. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
4. Launch the game with SMAPI and check in the console that Calcifer shows up in the list of loaded mods with no red errors.
