What this mod does
Producer Framework Mod (PFM), by Digus, lets other mods define production rules for machines, both new ones and those from the base game. It’s the foundation of many artisan machine mods: according to Nexus, more than 450 use it. On its own it does nothing.
What it lets mods do
- Define which items a machine accepts, what it produces and how long it takes.
- Fuels, outputs with their own price, quality and quantity, and colored outputs.
- Restrictions by season, weather, time of day, location, events seen or letters received.
- Animations, sounds, and compatibility with hoppers and with Automate.
Requirements and compatibility
It only needs SMAPI. Version 1.8.0 updated it for 1.6, and 1.9.6 adapted it to 1.6.9, disabling machine light sources, which that game version broke. Version 1.9.8 (April 7, 2025, 68 KB) is a minor fix. Nexus tags it as compatible with Android. The page doesn’t mention multiplayer.
It has included a Spanish translation since 1.7.4. As a player, you only need to install it if a mod asks for it; its machines show information in Lookup Anything since version 1.6.0 of the framework.

Requirements
- Stardew Valley 1.6.9 or later (PC; tagged as compatible with Android)
- SMAPI 4.x
- Content packs that use it (it does nothing on its own)
How to install it
- Install SMAPI first (see its mod page) and launch the game once with it to make sure it works.
- Open the Producer Framework Mod page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (ProducerFrameworkMod-v1.9.8). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Extract the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
- Launch the game with SMAPI and check in the console that Producer Framework Mod appears in the list of loaded mods with no red errors.

Common problems
Does it work with Automate?
Yes. Since 1.9.0 it supports Automate for machines from the base game and from Content Patcher.
Why don't my machines glow?
Version 1.9.6 disabled light sources because 1.6.9 broke that feature.
Is it available in Spanish?
Yes. It has included a Spanish translation since version 1.7.4.
