What this mod does
Mail Framework Mod (MFM), by Digus, lets other mods send custom letters to the farm mailbox with options you can’t get by editing the game data alone. According to Nexus, more than 350 mods use it. On its own it does nothing.
What it allows
- Attach items, tools, rings, furniture, weapons or boots, even picked at random by groups and weights.
- Teach cooking or crafting recipes through a letter.
- Offer the player replies that set flags for other mods or events.
- Delivery conditions by date, season, weather, friendship, skills, mine depth, buildings or events seen.
- Custom backgrounds, text colors and translations (i18n) for each letter.
Requirements and compatibility
It only needs SMAPI. Version 1.20.0 (March 28, 2025, 49 KB) adds an asset that can be edited with Content Patcher. The 1.6 update arrived in 1.16.0, and Nexus tags it as compatible with Android. The page doesn’t mention multiplayer.
As a player, you only need to install it if a mod asks for it: letters arrive on their own once their conditions are met. It includes console commands to reload packs and force the mailbox.

Requirements
- Stardew Valley 1.6.x (PC; tagged as compatible with Android)
- SMAPI 4.x
- A mod that uses it (it does nothing on its own)
How to install it
- Install SMAPI first (see its mod page) and launch the game once with it to make sure it works.
- Open the Mail Framework Mod page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (MailFrameworkMod-v1.20.0). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Extract the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
- Launch the game with SMAPI and check in the console that Mail Framework Mod appears in the list of loaded mods with no red errors.

Common problems
Do I have to configure anything?
No. The mods that use it define their letters; you just receive them in your mailbox.
Does it work with Content Patcher?
Yes. Since 1.20.0, letters from content packs can be edited with Content Patcher.
Is it available in Spanish?
There's no translation of the framework on Nexus; the letter text depends on each mod, which may include its own translation.
