Expanded Preconditions Utility for Stardew Valley
A utility that adds a condition system for other mods. It does nothing on its own, but many NPC and content mods require it. Version 1.1.2 for 1.6.15.

What this mod does
Expanded Preconditions Utility (EPU) is one of those dependencies that shows up on the requirements list of lots of content mods. It was created by Cherry and is now kept up to date by Pathoschild, the author of SMAPI. Its page makes it clear: it does nothing on its own.
What it’s for
It gives mod authors a condition system based on the game’s event preconditions. With it, a mod can decide whether something appears or not depending on the day, season, weather, friendship with a character, events seen or other requirements, using a text format designed for content packs. As a player you don’t have to configure anything: the mods that need it use it automatically.
Requirements and compatibility
- Version 1.1.2 (March 15, 2026, 23 KB) requires SMAPI 4.1.10 or later and is compatible with Stardew Valley 1.6.15 or later.
- It works on Windows, macOS and Linux, and it’s tagged as Android-compatible.
- It works in single-player and multiplayer, and the page says it has no known conflicts.
- Nexus lists more than 90 mods that use it.
Only install it if a mod asks for it as a requirement. If a mod that depends on it won’t load, check the SMAPI console to make sure EPU shows up in the list without errors.

Common problems
Why would I want it if it does nothing?
Other mods need it to check conditions (dates, friendship, events seen…). Only install it if one of them asks for it.
Does it work in multiplayer?
Yes. The page says it works in single-player and multiplayer.
Is it abandoned?
No: Pathoschild publishes the updates; the latest, 1.1.2, is from March 2026.
