On Nintendo Switch it takes 1.5 GB and on Switch 2, 2.2 GB, according to the eShop; on iPhone and iPad the App Store lists 463.7 MB. There’s no paid DLC. Mods add a bit, but not much: a big expansion like Stardew Valley Expanded weighs 97.6 MB.

Every update (1.6 included) is free and there’s no DLC, so there’s no «complete edition» to add up: the size only grows with your mods and your saves, which are small files.
How much space Stardew Valley mods take
Stardew is one of the games where mods are lightest. Many are just a few MB, and only expansions with new maps, characters and music go over 50 MB. Examples with the size listed on their Holymod page:

SSD or hard drive?
Steam doesn’t require an SSD and Stardew loads quickly on any drive. With lots of SMAPI mods, startup takes a bit longer, but here the CPU matters more than the drive.
Where mods and saves are stored
- Mods: in the Mods folder inside the game folder. On Steam for Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods.
- Saves on Windows: %APPDATA%\StardewValley\Saves.
- Saves on macOS and Linux: ~/.config/StardewValley/Saves.
Back up the Saves folder before installing or removing expansions: some add items and characters that can’t be removed mid-save without problems.
How to free up space
- Stardew takes up so little that you’ll rarely need to. If you want to clean up, delete the folders you don’t use from Mods, along with any .zip files you’ve already extracted.
- On console and mobile there are no official mods to delete; the size there is what the store says.

Backing up your saves
Before installing a big expansion, copy the entire Saves folder somewhere else. The files are small, so the backup takes almost no space and lets you roll back if a mod breaks your save. If you play on Steam, Steam Cloud also keeps your saves, but it’s no substitute for your own backup when you change mods.
