What this mod does

Ridgeside Village (RSV) adds a new town with more than 50 NPCs, marriage candidates with their heart events and spouse content, items, shops, festivals, quests and original music. It’s made by Rafseazz and mamaesh with the RSV Council team, and it’s one of the game’s biggest expansions alongside Stardew Valley Expanded.

Requirements

Installation and saves

Version 2.5.17 (53.1 MB, November 2024) is the main file for 1.6; the version for 1.5.6 is a different file with different requirements, so don’t mix them. Since 2.2.5 it has a progressive mode for adding RSV to a save you’ve already started. The authors advise against installing it with Vortex or other managers: do it by hand instead. Since 2.5.2 mobile support is built into the main mod, and it carries the Android-compatible tag.

Known issues

RSV’s world map is in beta and some areas are still missing, and the Mountain Mistblade feature is temporarily disabled. Its history includes fixes for coexisting with SVE and East Scarp. In multiplayer, everyone must have it. Spanish isn’t included: Nexus links separate translations by mardrest and by Kerub.

How to install it

  1. Install SMAPI first (see its mod page) and launch the game once with it to make sure it works.
  2. Install its four requirements: Content Patcher, Custom Companions, Farm Type Manager and SpaceCore.
  3. Open the Ridgeside Village page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Ridgeside Village 2.5.17). You need a free Nexus account to download.
  4. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into Mods, inside the game folder (on Steam for Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods).
  5. Install it by hand: the authors advise against Vortex and other mod managers for this game. Don't download the files marked 'for SDV 1.5.6'.
  6. Launch the game with SMAPI and check the console: if any requirement is missing, SMAPI will tell you which one.
