What this mod does
The E36-bodied BMW 320i was one of the most popular Super Touring cars of the late nineties, racing in the German STW championship and the British BTCC. This mod is the second car by Patrik Marek (PM3DM), author of the well-known Nissan Primera BTCC, and it has passed 100,000 downloads on OverTake with a rating of 4.8 out of 5.
What’s included
- Model, textures and shaders by the author himself, with physics by Abbo90 and Ben Lee and sound by ACFan.
- Several period liveries and a separate paint template for creating your own.
- A conservative default setup: the author warns that the car understeers quite a bit to make it easy to drive, and encourages you to experiment with the setup.
Who it’s for
For anyone looking for a free racing BMW E36 who wants to build Super Touring grids alongside the same author’s Primera. Users rate the driving very highly.
Version
It’s an early access version (0.5.1, April 2020) and the author himself presents it as a work in progress: the cockpit has no textures yet, the levels of detail (LOD) are missing and the driver animation is temporary. It hasn’t been updated since then.

How to install it
- Go to the BMW 320i page on OverTake.gg and log in.
- Download the file (about 52 MB).
- Drag it into Content Manager and install it, or copy its contents into the Assetto Corsa root folder.
- Find 1998 BMW 320i STW in the car list and pick a livery.
- If it understeers too much, try softening the front bar or changing the brake bias in the setup.

That's normal: the author lists it as pending in this early version.
The car understeers a lot
The default setup is deliberately conservative. Adjust the setup to your liking.
Does it run well on big grids?
It doesn't have LODs yet, so with lots of identical cars on track performance may drop.
