What this mod does

good and bad weather SUITE (gbwSuite) is the weather system Peter Boese released in 2018, before he created Sol and, later, Pure. It’s free, but discontinued: the author himself points to Sol as its successor, and today Pure, a paid subscription on his Patreon, has taken that place. It has more than 21,000 downloads and a rating of 4.93 out of 5 from 151 reviews.

What it did

  • Generated weather from Content Manager: weather files, color curves, filter and tire smoke matched to the time of day.
  • Calculated the sun’s position from each track’s GPS coordinates.
  • Night fog and other night effects, with a look that changes with temperature.
  • A default weather with its own textures for online play, because the complex weather doesn’t work online.
  • A PDF manual with step-by-step installation.

Why it’s no longer the recommended option

The weather is static, with no passage of time; for day-night cycles the author points you to Sol. Installing from Content Manager doesn’t work, and you have to disable weatherFX in Custom Shaders Patch. Today it’s mostly interesting as a piece of history or for older installs. To play with current CSP, the logical choice is Sol, which is free, or Pure.

Common problems

Is it the same as Pure?

No. It's the earlier weather system by the same author, Peter Boese. He then created Sol and, later, Pure.

Does it have a day-night cycle?

No. The author explains that the weather is static and points you to Sol for time progression.

Does it work online?

The complex weather doesn't. It includes a default weather with its own textures meant for online sessions.
