What this mod does
Sol is a weather, sky and lighting mod for Assetto Corsa created by Peter Boese. For years it was the standard way to get realistic sunrises, clouds and fog, and it’s still free.
Before you install it
The author left it at version 2.2.9 (last updated: January 2024) and warns on the official page that it doesn’t work with CSP 0.2.10 or later. If you have a current version of CSP, the alternative is Pure, its successor, by the same author.
Sol doesn’t include rain either: that depends on RainFX, which is part of the CSP preview versions.
Today it only makes sense if you maintain an install with CSP between 0.1.76 and 0.2.9, for example for a server or league that requires it.

Requirements

- Custom Shaders Patch between 0.1.76 and 0.2.9
- Content Manager (recommended)

How to install it
- Check your CSP version in Content Manager › Settings › Custom Shaders Patch. With 0.2.10 or later, Sol won't work.
- Download Sol 2.2.9 from its page on OverTake.
- Follow the author's installation guide that comes with the download.
- In Content Manager, enable Weather FX and choose Sol as the weather script.
- Select Sol's post-processing filter and try a session.
Common problems
Why isn't Sol working for me?
The most common cause is having CSP 0.2.10 or later, which Sol is no longer compatible with.
Does Sol include rain?
No. Rain is RainFX, from the CSP preview versions.
Sol or Pure?
For a current install, Pure: it's Sol's successor and is still being updated.
