What this mod does
Allan’s America Background Map 4K is a map background by Allan (GMC Community) with shaded relief, detailed coastlines and wider coverage than the stock one. Besides the SCS map, it covers the areas of the ATMX, Grand Utopia of America and Beyond’s Pacific islands map mods.
Editions
- Light (this one).
- Dark: slate gray terrain and navy blue water.
- Dark Coloured: natural terrain colors and navy blue water.
Enable only one edition and disable any previous background.
Load order
The FullScreen Maps mod (optional) goes above it, as do compatible road and GPS color packs. You don’t need any of them: the background comes with default colors, and those packs only change roads and navigation, not the terrain.
Compatibility
It only adds background artwork, with no roads or cities: ATMX, Grand Utopia and Beyond are still separate maps you’d need to install. Route advisor mods that replace the map configuration, like ATS Route Adviser V1.0 or Mirror Below, can override colors and zoom.
Known issues
One user reports that some delivery points on the Louisiana coast end up inside the Gulf at 1080p. Asked about Reforma and ProMods Canada, the author replied that he’s still fixing things, without confirming compatibility.

How to install it
- Open the "Allan's America Background Map 4K - Light" page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
- Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish downloading the mod.
- Go to your profile's Mod Manager and enable "Allan's America Background Map 4K - Light".
- Disable any other map background or earlier edition of this one.
- If you use FullScreen Maps or GPS color packs, place them above it.

Common problems
Does it add ATMX or Grand Utopia roads?
No. It only draws the background; those maps are installed separately.
Can I use two editions at once?
No; the author asks you to enable only one.
