What this mod does
CAT C15 ACERT Straight Pipe Sound is the modern sibling of the 6NZ in Slav Jerry‘s catalog: the Caterpillar C15 ACERT with a straight pipe exhaust. It sounds sharper than the 6NZ and reproduces the behavior of its series twin turbo.
What it includes
- C15 ACERT from 435 to 550 hp and the King of the Hill version with 600 and 625 hp, all with open exhaust.
- Realistic compound twin-turbo behavior.
- Alternative single-turbo variant that includes a tuned 650 hp engine.
- Automatic fan, transmission whine and sound attenuation with distance.
- Distortion and directional effects that change depending on where you are relative to the truck.
Where the sound comes from
The credits cite SCS Software’s engine samples, which the author processes and fills out with his own samples. There’s no audio from other games.
Compatibility
It works with some SCS trucks and many modded trucks; missing ones can be added with the CAST system. The idle engine brake doesn’t get along with mods that change the cab switch sounds.
Version
Version 4.0 (July 24, 2026) rebuilds the entire mod and is tagged for ATS 1.60.

Requirements
- American Truck Simulator 1.60 (compatible from 1.56 to 1.60 according to the author)
- No DLC required
- An SCS or modded truck that supports the CAT C15 engine
How to install it
- Open the mod's page on TruckyMods (it's also in the author's thread on the SCS forum and on Steam Workshop).
- Download version 4.0.
- Copy the .scs file to Documents/American Truck Simulator/mod.
- Enable it in the Mod Manager above modded trucks and other sound mods.
- At a service shop, fit the C15 ACERT you prefer: stock twin turbo or the single-turbo variant.
- For modded trucks that aren't included, follow the CAST instructions in the author's thread.

Common problems
What's the difference from the CAT C15 6NZ?
They're two generations of the same engine. The ACERT is newer and has a twin turbo; the 6NZ is the classic single-turbo engine.
What is the single-turbo variant for?
It simulates an ACERT converted to a single turbo and includes a tuned 650 hp engine.
Does it work in ATS 1.61?
The author tags it up to 1.60. It may work, but it will show up as an outdated mod until he updates it.
