What this mod does
Realistic Rain & Water & Thunder Sounds is Kass’s storm mod for American Truck Simulator. Its strong point is the audio: it replaces the game’s thunder with more than 40 high-quality recordings that sound different inside and outside the cab. It also reworks the look of rain and water.
What it changes in the game
- More than 40 new thunder sounds, with versions for inside and outside the cab.
- More realistic lightning, dynamic since version 10.0.
- Improved raindrops and windshield effects.
- More natural water at sea and in rivers, lakes and beaches.
- More wheel spray in the rain, on both your truck and traffic.
- Exterior truck camera with more room to zoom in and out.
Who it’s for
For anyone who often drives in the rain and misses storms with more presence. It’s a good companion to Realistic Brutal Graphics and Weather, by the same author, but it’s released as a standalone mod.
Version
Version 10.0 (September 20, 2026) fully adapted it to ATS 1.61 and added dynamic lightning plus new rain and spray physics. Version 10.1 (September 29) fixes some files.

Requirements

How to install it
- Open the mod's page on TruckyMods and download version 10.1.
- Copy the .scs file to Documents/American Truck Simulator/mod.
- Launch the game and enable the mod in the Mod Manager.
- If you use another rain or storm sound mod, decide which one should take priority and place it higher in the list.
- Load your profile and wait for a rainy day (or take a route with bad weather) to hear the new thunder.

Does it only change sounds?
No. Besides thunder, it changes lightning, windshield raindrops, water in rivers, lakes and sea, and wheel spray.
Do I need Realistic Brutal Graphics and Weather?
No. It's a standalone mod by the same author; you can use it alone or together with it.
The feature list says 1.60. Does it work on 1.61?
Yes. The changelog says version 10.0 is fully updated for 1.61, and the mod page marks it as compatible with that version.
