What this mod does
Detroit Diesel 6-71 Straight Pipe Sound recreates one of the most recognizable engines in trucking history: the two-stroke Detroit 6-71, with its high-pitched, steady sound. Slav Jerry offers it with a straight pipe exhaust for classic modded trucks.
What it includes
- Detroit Diesel 6-71 from 230 to 310 hp.
- Marine 6-71TI version.
- Exhaust stack effects.
- Realistic distance attenuation and directional effects based on your position around the truck.
Compatibility: modded trucks only
The author warns that it doesn’t work on any SCS truck without editing its .def files. In the comments he explains that compatibility depends on each modded truck and that sometimes you also need to edit its .def files. Users try it on classics like the International Fleetstar 2030A or the Kenworth K100, and one warns that it gets very loud on long trips.
Version
It was released on January 23, 2026, during the ATS 1.57 era, and has had no updates since. The author doesn’t list a game version. All the sound work (samples, mixing and mastering) is his own. If you’d rather have a modern Detroit with a stock sound, check out the same author’s Detroit Diesel DD Series Stock Sound.
