What this mod does

Cummins Small Cam Straight Pipe Sound is another sound mod by Slav Jerry, the author behind some of the most popular straight-pipe engines in ATS. This time he recreates the Cummins 855 «Small Cam» family, the engine of 1970s trucks, with an open exhaust and no muffler.

Engines included

  • NT855 at 335 hp.
  • NTA855 from 370 to 400 hp.
  • NTC855 from 290 to 350 hp, plus a 290 Formula variant.

Sound effects

  • Gearbox whine.
  • Attenuation: the exhaust fades realistically with distance.
  • Distortion and directional effects that change depending on where you are around the truck.

Compatibility

It’s designed for SCS and modded trucks; the tags mention Freightliner, Kenworth, Mack and Peterbilt. In the comments, the author explains that none of Jon Ruda’s trucks fit a Small Cam and that, being a 1970s engine, it’s deliberately less powerful than the Big Cams. If you want more power, the same author made the straight-pipe Cummins Big Cam IV.

Version

Version 1.0 was released on May 22, 2026, around ATS 1.59. The author doesn’t list a game version or load order. Credits: Slav Jerry (sampling, mixing and mastering) and IMC (engine specs).
