What this mod does
Cummins Big Cam IV Straight Pipe Sound brings to ATS the sound of one of the most classic engines in long-hood American trucks: the Cummins NTC-855 Big Cam IV, with a straight-pipe exhaust. It’s made by Slav Jerry, and his SCS forum thread has been open since 2021.
What 5.0 includes
- Big Cam IV engines from 300 to 400 hp, including Formula variants.
- Transmission whine.
- Distance attenuation, distortion and directional sound based on your position around the truck.
- More compatible trucks than in earlier versions, plus CAST for adding other modded ones.
Version 5.0 rebuilds the mod around the Big Cam IV and renames it (it used to be «NTC Big Cam»). The author plans to add earlier Big Cam generations later on.
Which trucks it sounds best in
It’s designed mainly for old-style trucks, both SCS and modded ones. In early versions, the author pushed the realism on the Peterbilt 389 and the Kenworth W900. To pair it with vintage trucks, check out Smarty’s Peterbilts or the Peterbilt 389 Rework.

Version 5.0 is from June 12, 2026: the thread ties it to ATS 1.59, and TruckyMods tags it from 1.56 to 1.60. It’s also on Steam Workshop.

Requirements
- American Truck Simulator 1.59 or 1.60 (1.61 isn't confirmed)
- A compatible SCS or modded truck (mainly classic-style ones), or add one with CAST
How to install it
- Download version 5.0 from TruckyMods or subscribe on Steam Workshop (links in the author's thread).
- Copy the file to Documents/American Truck Simulator/mod if you got it from TruckyMods.
- Enable it in the Mod Manager above modded trucks and other sound mods.
- At a service shop, fit one of the Big Cam IV engines to a compatible truck.
- If your modded truck doesn't show up, use CAST: rename a zcustom_xx folder in def/vehicle/truck/ to the truck's name.
