What this mod does
Drivable AI is a mod by Sk3lecreeper that makes American Truck Simulator’s traffic vehicles drivable. It has about 90,000 subscribers. It started with the escort F150, and the author wants to make every AI vehicle drivable.
Vehicles
- Ford Crown Victoria, Explorer, Taurus, F150 and F350, also as police cars and ambulances.
- Dodge Ram 2500 and Charger, Jeep Wrangler, GMC Sierra HD and Ford Transit.
- Autocar ACX garbage truck, Sterling Acterra street sweeper and Mack RD690S.
- Pierce Arrow XT fire truck, school bus and Isuzu cabover (in development).
What they have
Working police and fire lights and sirens, with a two-tone siren. They also have current paint jobs, their own interiors, animations and roughly realistic mechanics. Animations are triggered with the window keys. The “Wail” tone is tied to the engine brake and only sounds while the vehicle is coasting.
Where to choose them
Models from the same brand share a single vehicle: you switch them by cabin in the truck browser or at the truck dealer.
Version
The description says “CURRENT GAME VERSION: 1.54”. The latest update is from March 3, 2025. One player says that on 1.61 almost all the vehicles disappeared from the modded truck dealer.

How to install it
- Open the mod's page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Wait for Steam to download it and launch American Truck Simulator.
- In the Mod Manager, enable Drivable AI and confirm the changes.
- In your save, look for the vehicles at the truck dealer or in the truck browser.
- In the controls, assign keys to the windows (animations) and the engine brake (siren).
Common problems
How do I turn on the siren?
The “Wail” tone is tied to the engine brake; the author recommends setting it to toggle mode, and it only works while not accelerating.
How do I switch models?
Each brand shares one vehicle: you pick the model by cabin in the browser or at the dealer.
Does it work on 1.61?
The author lists 1.54; one player says vehicles are missing on 1.61.
