ATS DLC list: states by year, free content and Mexico

Every American Truck Simulator state DLC by year, what the base game includes for free, what Reforma and Coast to Coast need, and if a Mexico DLC exists.

Updated: 24 Oct 2026

American Truck Simulator comes with California, Nevada and Arizona out of the box; Arizona arrived in 2016 as a free expansion and is now part of the base game. Every other state is sold as paid DLC: 18 have been released, from New Mexico (2017) to South Dakota (September 2026). Three more are announced: British Columbia, which will be the first Canadian region, Indiana and North Dakota. There is no official Mexico DLC: if you want to drive through Mexico, your option is the free Reforma mod.

What the ATS base game includes

The game launched in 2016 with California and Nevada. In June 2016 SCS Software added Arizona as a free update for all owners, and the game’s current Steam description already lists all three states as base content. You don’t have to download or buy anything extra to get them.

The most recent ones are Illinois, released on May 14, 2026, and South Dakota, released on September 24, 2026. SCS is also rebuilding Nevada as part of a project to overhaul the original map.

Are there free states in ATS?

Only the base game ones: California, Nevada and Arizona. All the other states are paid DLC. What is free are the updates that rework older parts of the map, which reach every player through the game’s patches. Steam often discounts the state DLCs during seasonal sales; we don’t list prices because they change.

Other American Truck Simulator DLC

Just like in ETS2, besides the states there are DLCs for licensed trucks (for example the Mack Pinnacle, Kenworth T680 2022 or Western Star 57X), trailers, cargo (Farm Machinery, JCB Equipment Pack, KRONE Agriculture Equipment, Bobcat Cargo Pack), tuning and paint jobs. The big new thing in 2026 is Road Trip, a module for driving cars: its first pack, Road Trip: Ford, came out on September 29, 2026, and the RAM and Dodge pack has been announced.

Which DLCs Reforma and Coast to Coast need

The two big community maps for ATS connect to the official states, so they need several DLCs. If you’re missing one, the game will usually crash on load.

  • Reforma (Mexico map): in its version for ATS 1.61, Team Reforma requires, on top of Arizona and Nevada (included in the base game), the New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa and Arkansas DLCs, plus its Reforma Mega Resources asset pack, which is a separate download. With Texas you get border crossings such as Nuevo Laredo to Laredo.
  • Coast to Coast (C2C): fills in the states the game doesn’t have yet, all the way to the East Coast. Its author requires every official map DLC in recent versions, and updates the map each time SCS releases a new state.

Requirements change with every version, so check them on each mod’s page before you download. You’ll find more options in the ATS maps section and the installation process in the guide on how to install mods in ATS.

Is there an official Mexico DLC for American Truck Simulator?

No. SCS Software hasn’t released or announced any Mexico expansion. The first region outside the United States they’ve confirmed is British Columbia, in Canada. It’s easy to get confused because there’s a New Mexico DLC, but that’s the US state, not the country.

If you want to drive through Mexico today, the alternative is Reforma, a free mod maintained by Team Reforma that connects Mexico with California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Only download it from its official website.

Which DLC to buy first

  1. New Mexico and Texas: they expand the south, link up with Arizona and are required by Reforma.
  2. Oregon and Washington: they follow the Pacific coast north from California.
  3. If you’re going to use Reforma or Coast to Coast, work your way through the states they require. Many players end up buying every state in the West and Midwest.
