Best ATS maps for 1.61: expansions and combos

The best ATS maps for 1.61: Coast to Coast, Reforma, Canada and Alaska, standalone maps and add-ons, with DLC, dependencies and load order.

Updated: 24 Oct 2026

The best ATS maps for 1.61 are Coast to Coast to complete the United States all the way to the East Coast, Reforma for Mexico, Western Canada Expansion and ProMods Canada for Canada, and ATS Expansion if you’d rather have more destinations inside the official map. Almost all of them require the official state DLCs, and not all of them can be combined. Below you’ll find the 16 maps in our directory, grouped, with version, DLC, dependencies and load order.

Before you install: version, DLC and profile

  • Exact version. A map built for 1.60 can stop your save from loading on 1.61. We list each one’s version and, at the end, separate out the ones that haven’t been updated yet. The full list is in mods compatible with ATS 1.61.
  • Map DLC. Most large maps require all or nearly all of the state DLCs. If you’re missing one, the map may not load.
  • Test profile. Copy your profile or create a new one before enabling a large map. Standalone maps, such as Reforma Esterlon, Mapkalo or Dalton and Elliot Hwy Extreme, are always played in their own profile.
  • Official download. Coast to Coast and Reforma are spread across many unauthorized websites. Always download from the author’s page linked on each mod page.

If it’s your first time with mods, start with how to install mods in ATS.

The official map DLCs

According to American Truck Simulator’s DLC page on Steam, checked on October 13, 2026, there are 19 released state DLCs: Arizona, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Louisiana, Illinois and South Dakota, the latest one, from September 24, 2026. British Columbia and Indiana are listed as «To be announced».

When a map asks for «all DLCs», it means the released ones. You’ll find what each one includes in the American Truck Simulator DLC guide.

Major expansions

Coast to Coast

The veteran map that fills in the rest of the continental United States up to the East Coast. It adapts to each official DLC, and the latest versions have rebuilt Louisiana, improved Texas and added scenery along I-95. Version 2.24.61.1 (October 11, 2026) is for 1.61. It requires all the official map DLCs and the level of detail varies by area. It combines with other maps through connection patches, for example with Reforma.

Reforma

The go-to Mexico expansion, by Team Reforma, successor to Mexico Extremo. Version 3.0.1.161 integrates the Pacific, Northeast and Coahuila regions, revamps Puerto Vallarta and adds Monclova, Piedras Negras and Nuevo Laredo. It has new crossings with Texas (Piedras Negras–Eagle Pass and Nuevo Laredo–Laredo) and border crossings with California, Arizona and New Mexico. The base map is free, and there are optional paid add-ons.

It requires many map DLCs and won’t load without them. It needs the Reforma Mega Resources pack, which is downloaded separately and is fairly large. Download only from teamreforma.com. The mod page doesn’t list the game version for 3.0.1.161, so check it there before updating. If you play in Mexico, there’s more context in ATS in Mexico.

Western Canada Expansion

Six Canadian territories: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon and the Northwest Territories. It adds dozens of cities, border crossings, coastal ferries and upgradable garages. Version 1.7.3 (September 15, 2026) is for 1.61. It requires all the map DLCs. It isn’t compatible with EMMN or with the Ontario and Quebec maps.

ProMods Canada

The ProMods team’s map for ATS takes the game into British Columbia: the Coquihalla Highway, the Sea to Sky Highway, the Okanagan Valley, Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Version 1.6.4 is for 1.61. It’s one of the maps that asks for the fewest DLCs: Oregon and Washington, plus Idaho and Montana if you want the border crossing with Idaho. It’s a free download on promods.net, not on Steam; be wary of reuploads. In the official thread there’s an unofficial connection with CanaMania, tested on 1.42 and with no guarantee it’s still up to date.

ATS Expansion

It doesn’t add roads: it fills the ones you already have with destinations. That’s more than 200 loading points in states like Montana, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas or Nebraska, with ranches, wind farms, crude oil pickups and dealerships. Version 23.0 is for 1.61. It requires almost all the state DLCs and two cargo DLCs, Heavy Cargo Pack and Volvo Construction Equipment. It isn’t compatible with Coast to Coast. If you use modded trailers, add its Cargo Add-on right above the map.

Maps that extend other maps

These maps don’t work on their own or are designed to go alongside a specific expansion.

  • Alaska Expansion (1.2.3, ATS 1.61): continues Western Canada Expansion up to Alaska, with border crossings and ferries to the Aleutian Islands and Petersburg Alaska maps. It needs Western Canada Expansion loaded below it and all the map DLCs. Its author presents it as a basic map.
  • Reforma Sierra Nevada (1.19.161, ATS 1.61): Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Reno and the Sonora Pass and Tioga Pass mountain passes. It requires five state DLCs and Reforma Mega Resources. It doesn’t add Mexican territory. The author warns it will become obsolete when SCS releases its official Nevada rework.
  • CanaMania (2.60.0, ATS 1.60): formerly Canadream, with western and eastern Canadian provinces. It needs Coast to Coast and, therefore, all the map DLCs. It now only gets fixes, and it doesn’t have a 1.61 version yet.
  • Project Better Arizona (0.5.2, ATS 1.60): rebuilds Arizona and adds towns like Gila Bend, Casa Grande, Prescott or Camp Verde. It requires the Arizona and New Mexico DLCs (Nevada comes with the base game), and the author also recommends Idaho. It needs Reforma Mega Resources at the end of the load order.
  • Project Better Arizona – Reforma Connection (1.15.1, ATS 1.60): the bridge between Better Arizona and Reforma so the border lines up. You only need it if you use both. It’s built for Reforma 2.9.9.

Standalone maps

They don’t connect to the US map: you play them in a new profile and don’t mix them with other maps.

  • Reforma Esterlon (1.6.15.1.161, ATS 1.61): a fictional island country with features of both Mexico and the United States, at 1:1 scale. For now it only has the province of Prahdor, with Zacattle as its capital. It requires five state DLCs and Mega Resources, and it’s compatible with Road Trip.
  • Mapkalo (ATS 1.61): Colombia, with narrow, demanding mountain roads. The official website splits the 1.61 version into 7 files that are enabled in a specific order, and it also requires the Stoks mod from Steam Workshop.
  • Dalton and Elliot Hwy Extreme 1:1 (1.59.2.0s, ATS 1.59 and 1.60): Alaska’s Dalton Highway at real scale, with a winter edition and an ice road. Trips run in real time, and the author himself admits he hasn’t finished even a third of the route. Convoy-compatible according to the author. It asks you to add uset r_buffer_page_size "25" to config.cfg. It doesn’t have a 1.61 version yet.

Add-ons and improvements for the official map

  • Trucksmap USA (1.7pa1, from 1.55 to 1.61): «secret» roads, rest areas and discoverable areas in California, Nevada and Oregon. It requires the Oregon and Utah DLCs. It’s incompatible with More American Cities (California).
  • Service at Companies (1.13, ATS 1.61): service points at companies with oversize loads, to put on and take off the signage when loading. It works with any map if it goes below it, and it has patches for ProMods Canada, Reforma and Reforma Sierra Nevada. It only covers SCS cargo.
  • Washington Lake Cabin (A-Frame) (1.1.5): a cabin by a lake in northern Washington that works as a garage, in a summer, winter or rustic version. It requires the Washington DLC. The latest revision is from December 2024 and there’s no record of testing on 1.61.

If you play in Mexico, Real MX Graphics (1.5, ATS 1.61) improves textures and colors on the Reforma-based maps. It goes above the maps.

Requirements overview

  • Coast to Coast: expansion, 1.61, all map DLCs.
  • Reforma: expansion, 3.0.1.161, many DLCs and Mega Resources.
  • Western Canada Expansion: expansion, 1.61, all map DLCs.
  • ProMods Canada: expansion, 1.61, Oregon and Washington.
  • ATS Expansion: destinations, 1.61, almost all state DLCs and two cargo DLCs.
  • Alaska Expansion: extension, 1.61, Western Canada Expansion and all DLCs.
  • Reforma Sierra Nevada: extension, 1.61, five DLCs and Mega Resources.
  • Reforma Esterlon: standalone, 1.61, five DLCs and Mega Resources.
  • Mapkalo: standalone, 1.61, 7 files and Stoks.

  • Service at Companies: add-on, 1.61, no required DLC.

How to combine maps: load order and patches

In the Mod Manager, whatever is on top takes priority. To get several maps to coexist in the same profile, follow these rules:

  • Standalone maps go separately. Esterlon, Mapkalo and Dalton and Elliot Hwy Extreme go in their own profile.
  • The extension goes above its base. Alaska Expansion goes above Western Canada Expansion. CanaMania needs Coast to Coast enabled.
  • Resources go at the bottom. In the Better Arizona combo, Reforma Mega Resources goes last.
  • Connection patches go on top. The order the Better Arizona author asks for is: connection patch, Better Arizona, Reforma and, finally, Mega Resources.
  • Each author’s connectors. The Western Canada Expansion author publishes connection mods for ProMods Canada, Coast to Coast with CanaMania, ATS Expansion and other maps, and knows of no conflicts with Reforma or Sierra Nevada. If you put ProMods Canada above Reforma, Team Reforma has a patch for the world map.
  • Small pieces, as their author says. Lake Cabin goes above other maps that edit that area. Service at Companies goes below the maps.

Known incompatibilities

  • ATS Expansion with Coast to Coast. Also not with MattVT Yards or Frankenstyle Custom Yards.
  • Western Canada Expansion and Alaska Expansion with EMMN. Western Canada, on top of that, with the Ontario and Quebec maps.
  • Trucksmap USA with More American Cities (California).
  • Dalton and Elliot Hwy Extreme with any other map.
  • Reforma Esterlon with the US map in the same profile.

Two example combos for 1.61

Heading north: Alaska Expansion above Western Canada Expansion, with all the map DLCs. If you add ProMods Canada, use the connection mod from the Western Canada author.

The West and Mexico: Reforma Sierra Nevada and Reforma with Mega Resources, Real MX Graphics above and Service at Companies below the maps, with its Reforma patches. The exact order between the two Reforma maps isn’t on the mod pages: follow the instructions on teamreforma.com and test it in a separate profile.

Still waiting for a 1.61 update

These maps aren’t confirmed for 1.61. Only use them if you keep an install on their version, or once the author releases the update.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the best Mexico map for ATS?

Reforma. It’s the go-to Mexico expansion, it has a free base map and crossings with Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California. It needs Mega Resources and many map DLCs.

Do I need all the DLCs to use maps?

For the big ones, almost always. Coast to Coast, Western Canada Expansion and Alaska Expansion require all of them. ProMods Canada only needs Oregon and Washington, and Trucksmap USA needs Oregon and Utah.

Can I run Coast to Coast and ATS Expansion together?

No. The ATS Expansion author states that it isn’t compatible with Coast to Coast. Pick one.

Do maps made for 1.60 work on 1.61?

It isn’t guaranteed. The game flags them as outdated and they may throw errors when loading. Test them in a separate profile or wait for the new version.
