What this mod does
Project Better Arizona is a map mod focused on a single state: it reworks Arizona cities that are already in the game and adds towns and roads that SCS left out. Instead of expanding the map outward, it makes it denser and truer to life.
What it adds
- New towns such as Gila Bend, Casa Grande, Camp Verde, Prescott, Prescott Valley, Yarnell, Mayer and Cordes Lakes.
- Improvements to Interstate 17, US 60 and 93, and State Routes 69, 85 and 89A.
- Major changes in Phoenix, including companies at Sky Harbor airport, and reworked stretches of I-10.
Requirements
You need the Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico DLC; the author also recommends Idaho. The Reforma Mega Resources asset pack is mandatory too, and it must go at the bottom of the load order.
Compatibility with other maps
If you play with Reforma or PaZzMod, the author releases specific connection patches that go above Better Arizona. The recommended order is: connection patch (if you use one), Better Arizona, Reforma or PaZzMod and, finally, Mega Resources.
Version
Version 0.5.2 is compatible with ATS 1.60. It’s a project in development, so some stretches may be temporarily closed while they’re being reworked.

How to install it
- Download Project Better Arizona from its TruckyMods page.
- Also download Reforma Mega Resources from TruckyMods.
- If you play with Reforma or PaZzMod, download the matching connection patch.
- Copy the .scs files to Documents/American Truck Simulator/mod.
- In the Mod Manager, order them from top to bottom: connection patch, Better Arizona, Reforma or PaZzMod, and Mega Resources.
- Start a new profile or load your save and travel to Arizona.

Common problems
The game crashes while loading
Check that Reforma Mega Resources is enabled and at the bottom of the list, and that you own the Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico DLC.
Is it compatible with Reforma?
Yes, but you need the Project Better Arizona Reforma Connection patch placed above Better Arizona.
Does it work on ATS 1.61?
The latest released version is for 1.60. Wait for the author's update if you run into problems on 1.61.
