American Truck Simulator Mexico: DLC and Reforma map

Does ATS have a Mexico DLC? There's no official one. Here's how to drive through Mexico with Reforma, which DLCs it needs, load order and version 1.61.

Updated: 24 Oct 2026

American Truck Simulator has no official Mexico DLC as of October 2026, and SCS Software hasn’t announced one either. The official map reaches the border in cities like Nogales, El Paso and Laredo, but it doesn’t let you cross. The first region outside the United States that SCS has confirmed is British Columbia, in Canada. If you want to drive through Mexico today, the option is Reforma, a free map mod by Team Reforma, updated for ATS 1.61, that connects to California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

Is there official Mexico content in ATS?

No. These are the points that usually cause confusion:

  • The New Mexico DLC isn’t Mexico. It’s the US state of New Mexico. It came out in 2017 and was the game’s first paid expansion.
  • The border is there, but you can’t cross it. Arizona (included in the base game) has Nogales, a border city. The Texas DLC includes El Paso and Laredo, which are also on the border. You can haul cargo there, but the official map ends on US soil.
  • Canada comes before Mexico. In October 2025, SCS announced British Columbia as the first time the game leaves the United States. There’s no release date and no announcement about Mexico.

You’ll find the full list of states and announcements in the American Truck Simulator DLC guide.

Reforma: the Mexico map for ATS

Reforma is the go-to Mexico map for ATS. It’s maintained by Team Reforma, a team of Spanish-speaking mappers, and it has absorbed earlier projects such as Mexico Extremo. The base version is free and is downloaded from the team’s official website (teamreforma.com) or from its verified page on TruckyMods. The team also offers separate paid content, which you don’t need to play the base map.

The current version is 3.0.1.161, released on September 24, 2026 for ATS 1.61. These are its main new features:

  • It merges the old separate expansions into the base map: Reforma Pacífico (with a revamped Puerto Vallarta and the Ameca-Puerto Vallarta highway), Reforma Noreste (Santa Catarina, Escobedo, Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo Laredo) and Reforma Coahuila (Cuatro Ciénegas, Monclova, Piedras Negras, Sabinas).
  • It adds two new crossings with the Texas DLC: Piedras Negras with Eagle Pass, and Nuevo Laredo with Laredo.
  • It adapts gas stations, hotels and rest areas for light vehicles, with the Road Trip module in mind, and adds exploration points across the whole map.

What you need to play with Reforma

  • ATS 1.61, the current version of the game.
  • Reforma Mega Resources, the models and resources pack. It’s mandatory, downloaded separately and has to be the same version as the map (3.0.1.161).
  • Map DLCs: Arizona and Nevada (included with the base game), plus New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa and Arkansas. If you’re missing any of them, the game will usually crash when loading the profile.

Other free maps related to Mexico

Reforma is the only up-to-date map that recreates the real Mexico. There are other projects that fit with it or offer a similar experience:

  • Project Better Arizona – Reforma Connection: a patch by AzNate that connects Project Better Arizona with Reforma in the border area. You only need it if you use both. Its latest version (1.15.1) is for ATS 1.60.
  • Reforma Sierra Nevada: from the same team, it rebuilds Lake Tahoe, Yosemite and California’s mountain passes. It doesn’t add Mexican territory, but it pairs well with Reforma.
  • Reforma Esterlon: a fictional country with signage inspired by Mexico and the United States. It’s a standalone map: you play it on a separate profile, without the US map.
  • Mapkalo: it’s not Mexico but Colombia. If you’re after Latin American roads, it’s another standalone map, free and in Spanish.

How to combine Reforma with other maps

In the ATS Mod Manager, mods higher up in the list take priority. For Reforma, the general layout is this, from top to bottom:

  1. Reforma Other Maps Patch: only if you use Reforma together with Coast to Coast, ProMods, ATS Expansion or CanaDream. Team Reforma says it goes above all other map mods. Its version 40.161 is for ATS 1.61.
  2. Connection patches, like the Project Better Arizona one, above the maps they connect.
  3. The maps: Reforma and any others you use.
  4. Reforma Mega Resources, below the maps that use it.

Since version 3.0, the images on Reforma’s files carry a number so you can identify the correct order in the Mod Manager. If your setup includes more maps, follow the load order tutorial on the Team Reforma website. If you’ve never installed mods, start with the guide on how to install mods in ATS.

You’ll find more maps to combine with Reforma, with their load order, in the guide to the best ATS maps.

Mexican traffic and add-ons

To make Mexico feel alive, Tráfico Mexicano adds trucks and buses in the liveries of Mexican lines (including double-trailer «full» rigs, tanker trucks and passenger buses) that only appear in Mexico, and the Mexican Traffic Trailer Pack adds trailers from Mexican companies to traffic and to the job market. If you use Reforma alongside other maps, the Reforma Other Maps Patch connects them, and Vikingo’s ferry collection includes routes that reach Reforma’s ports.

Version compatibility

Maps are the type of mod that breaks most often with each update. ATS 1.61 came out in mid-September 2026, and Reforma, Mega Resources and the Other Maps Patch have already been updated. Project Better Arizona and its Reforma connection are still on 1.60.

If you want to use a combination that hasn’t been updated yet, Steam lets you roll back to an earlier version of the game: right-click ATS, open Properties and, in the Betas section, choose the branch for the previous version. In that case, all your mods have to be for that same version. You can check out the mods for ATS 1.60. Don’t mix a Reforma from one version with a Mega Resources from another.

Frequently asked questions

Will there be an official Mexico DLC for American Truck Simulator?

There’s no announcement. The confirmed expansions are British Columbia (Canada) and the states of Indiana and North Dakota. If that changes, SCS will announce it on its official blog and on Steam.

Is Reforma free?

Yes, the base map and Mega Resources are free. Team Reforma offers paid extra content, which isn’t required. Download it only from teamreforma.com or its verified page on TruckyMods: some websites upload copies without permission, including paid versions.

Can I play Reforma without all those DLCs?

It’s not recommended. Reforma is built on top of the map with those states, and if any is missing, the game usually crashes or you’ll run into dead-end roads.

What is the New Mexico DLC?

It’s the US state of New Mexico (Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces). It doesn’t include any part of the country of Mexico, although Reforma needs it to connect its map.

The game crashes when loading with Reforma. What should I check?

Check three things: that you have all the DLCs on the list, that Mega Resources is enabled and is the same version as the map, and that your game version matches the mod’s (3.0.1.161 for ATS 1.61).
