What this mod does
JC Amateur Sound Effects Pack is a sound pack by Johnny_Cash for American Truck Simulator. It changes many truck sounds and adds three air horns. It has more than 115,000 subscribers.
Included sounds
- Low air pressure alarm, turn signals and their relay.
- Engine brake, light switches, wipers and power windows.
- White-noise reverse beeper, like on Australian trucks.
- Gear grinding on a missed shift and gear stick sounds.
- Trailer coupling and uncoupling, parking brake and air brakes.
- Horns: 37-inch round Hadley, ship horn and train horn.
Where the sounds come from
The author recorded most of them or took them from YouTube. The air brakes are by Coyote Man and Nemaiko, the parking brake by Coyote Man and the ship and train horns by Mortal.
Load order
It conflicts with other sound effect mods, so it must go above them. The author mentions ZeeMods’ air brakes and Drive Safely’s Sound Fixes Pack. The gear stick sounds must go above Fury6’s mod.
Version
The page says “Compatible with 1.50”. The latest update is from May 3, 2025. There’s a list of the 110+ compatible trucks in a linked Google Sheet.

Requirements
- American Truck Simulator
- No DLC or other mods needed
How to install it
- Open the mod's page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Wait for Steam to download it and launch American Truck Simulator.
- In the Mod Manager, enable JC Amateur Sound Effects Pack and confirm the changes.
- Place it above other sound effect mods, such as Sound Fixes Pack.
- At the service shop, pick the air horn you want.
