What this mod does
Meatballs Traffic Density Mod, by meatballs_21, increases the number of cars on screen so American Truck Simulator’s roads look busier. It’s one of the longest-running traffic mods on the Workshop: it was released in April 2016 and has over 26,000 subscribers.
What the traffic is like
- Lots of traffic during the morning and evening rush hours.
- Light traffic at night.
- A steady flow during the day.
With more vehicles around, it’s more demanding on your PC than the stock game; if your FPS drops, the author recommends lowering your graphics settings. If you get stuck in a traffic jam that won’t move, save and load your game right away: you’ll reappear in the same spot with no traffic around you.
Version
The author adjusts it with every game version. On September 15, 2026, the author wrote “Everything seems good in v1.61,” after also confirming 1.58, 1.59 and 1.60. Betas aren’t supported, so don’t count on it in the 1.62 beta. The Steam file is from May 18, 2024, and it’s 51 KB.
Installation
Enable it at high priority in the Mod Manager. It requires no DLC and only exists for ATS: the author doesn’t own ETS2.

Requirements

How to install it
- Open the “Meatballs Traffic Density Mod” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe.”
- Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish the download.
- In the Mod Manager, enable the mod and give it high priority.
- If your FPS drops too much, lower your graphics settings.
