What this mod does
Peterbilt 389 Add-ons [Lite] is a parts pack by Sherman for the stock Peterbilt 389 in American Truck Simulator. It’s the lite version of his add-ons for this truck and has over 48,000 subscribers.
What it adds
- Lots of grilles, air cleaners, bumpers, side skirts and fenders.
- Original battery boxes, polished front fenders, rear steps, front fender mud flaps and rear cab lights.
- Classic steering wheels and a new Paccar steering wheel.
- New engine sounds for the Paccar and Cummins engines.
- A gear shifter and a microwave for the interior: you pick them in the passenger plate slot.
Sherman credits parts from pete379jp, Right Lane Gaming and Ryan Kusumo Dhewanto.
Version and issues
The page says it’s compatible with 1.51 to 1.59, and on May 7, 2026 the author said he had tested it thoroughly on 1.59 with no errors. Some users mention missing fenders or game crashes, which the author blames on conflicts with other mods. With the mod’s own grille, the low and high beams are swapped; the author says it can’t be fixed and recommends the SCS grille. It’s about 334 MB.

How to install it
- Open the “Peterbilt 389 Add-ons [Lite]” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish the download.
- Open your profile's Mod Manager and enable the mod.
- Take your Peterbilt 389 to a service shop and look for the new parts.
- For the shifter and the microwave, pick the package in the passenger plate slot.
Common problems
Where do I put the microwave?
In the interior's passenger plate slot.
The lights on the new grille are backwards
It's a known bug with no fix; the author recommends using the SCS grille.
Does it change the sound?
