What this mod does
Project USA 1980’s wants your ATS save to look like it’s set in the 1980s. It swaps billboards, signs and textures for real ones from that decade, to go with classic trucks and period traffic.
What it changes
- Real 1980s billboards, now updated up to the Illinois DLC (1.4 added Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas).
- Store and building signs with chains from the era, like Zayre or Hills, and some fictional brands inspired by real ones.
- Company liveries for dry vans, reefers, grain hoppers and tankers, and goodbye to the generic logos on chrome trailers.
- New garage signs, CAT Scales instead of ACE, rail container textures and a delivery van with a Frito Lay livery.
Add-on
In the same thread you’ll find No Modern Traffic (also 1.5), which disables modern AI cars so you can use only classic traffic packs.
Version and warnings
Version 1.5 came out in June 2026 with LOD improvements and compatibility fixes. The author doesn’t list the game version or load order, and the project is still marked as in development. The download is on Modsfire, which shows ads: click only the file’s download button.

Requirements
- A recent American Truck Simulator version (1.5 covers up to the Illinois DLC)

How to install it
- Open the official thread and click the Project USA 1980's link (Modsfire).
- On Modsfire, click only the file's download button.
- Copy the .scs to Documents/American Truck Simulator/mod and enable it.
- If you want period-only traffic, add No Modern Traffic along with a classic car pack.

Common problems
Does it change the map?
It doesn't add roads: it replaces billboards, signs and textures with 1980s ones.
Do I need every DLC?
It doesn't say; the billboards are ready up to the Illinois DLC.
What is No Modern Traffic?
An add-on by the same author that removes modern AI cars.
