What this mod does
Better Raindrops is the rain mod by Avelium, the author of Better Flares. This is the American Truck Simulator version; if you play ETS2, check out the Better Raindrops for ETS2 page. It focuses on what you see and hear from the cab when it rains.
What it changes
- New raindrop texture and many more drops on the windshield.
- Drops appear based on the truck’s position relative to the angle of the rain.
- Reworked rain and wiper sounds, plus new reverb and balance settings in the cab.
- New spray trails from cars.
Add-ons
- Truck Addon: triples the drops, on SCS trucks only; it doesn’t work on modded trucks.
- Snowflakes: turns rain into snow; the author suggests using it with Frosty Winter.
Compatibility
It works with other weather and sound mods if you place it at the very top of the Mod Manager. Interior rain and the wipers depend on the interior sounds volume; exterior rain, on the world sounds volume. If you lose performance, Avelium advises lowering weather quality or traffic.

How to install it
- Open the official Better Raindrops for ATS thread on the SCS forum.
- Subscribe on Steam Workshop or download version 2.1.20 from Modsfire using the links in the thread.
- If you use Modsfire, copy the .scs file to Documents/American Truck Simulator/mod.
- Enable it in the Mod Manager and place it at the very top, above other weather and sound mods.
- If you like, add the Truck Addon (SCS trucks only) or the Snowflakes add-on.
- In Options > Audio, adjust the interior and world sounds volumes to taste.

Common problems
Does it work with weather mods like Grimes'?
Yes, the author says it's compatible with other weather and sound mods if it's at the very top of the Mod Manager.
Why doesn't the Truck Addon do anything on my truck?
It only works with SCS trucks; it isn't compatible with modded trucks.
I lose frames in the rain, what should I do?
The author recommends setting weather to medium or low quality, or reducing traffic with the console command g_traffic 0.5.
Does it work in ATS 1.61?
The latest version is tagged for 1.60; it may show up as an outdated mod until the author updates it.
