What this mod does
New Summer is the summer mod by Grimes for American Truck Simulator, from the same author as Frosty Winter. If you play Euro Truck Simulator 2, its counterpart is on the New Summer for ETS2 page. Version 4.5 is already ready for ATS 1.61.
What it changes
- Improved grass and trees, with denser grass that stays visible at a greater distance.
- Smoother vegetation detail transitions and less pop-in.
- Vegetation with more flowers and more realistic lighting.
- Reworked rain on the road and windshield, with improved asphalt textures.
What’s new in 4.5
Besides updating it for 1.61, Grimes has improved fair weather, reworked bad weather, added reflections on wet sidewalks and asphalt, and made roads take longer to dry. It also debuts an optional realistic road reflections add-on.
Compatibility
It works with all map DLCs. You need to disable other weather, graphics or HDR mods, such as Realistic Brutal Graphics and Weather. Grimes confirmed in June 2026 that sound mods, like Sound Fixes Pack, work fine with it. If you’re still on an older game version, the page keeps 4.4 (1.60), 4.3 (1.59) and 4.2 (1.58).

Requirements
- American Truck Simulator 1.61 (older versions for 1.58, 1.59 and 1.60 are on the same page)
- About 470 MB of free space
- No other weather, graphics or HDR mod active, and no other Grimes season
How to install it
- Open the New Summer page on Grimes' website.
- Choose the free download (ShareMods) or the ad-free $1 download.
- Copy new_summer_ats_v4_5.scs to Documents/American Truck Simulator/mod.
- In the Mod Manager, place it at the very top and disable any other weather, graphics or HDR mods.
- In Graphics, set vegetation detail and grass density to High and enable normal maps; if they were off, restart the game.

Common problems
Can I run several Grimes seasons at once?
No. Each one replaces the weather and graphics; enable only one, even if you use the Seasons Pack.
Does it work with the map DLCs?
Yes. The author says it's compatible with all map DLCs.
What is the Seasons Pack?
A separate paid pack ($2.99) with Spring, Summer, Early Fall, Late Fall and Winter for ATS 1.61.
Can I use it with sound mods?
Yes. Grimes confirmed it in June 2026: placing New Summer at the top doesn't affect your sound mods.
