What this mod does
Early Autumn (also called Early Fall) is Grimes‘ early autumn for American Truck Simulator. It’s the American version of his Early Autumn for ETS2 and part of the same season collection as Frosty Winter. Version 4.6 works on ATS 1.61.
What it changes
- Early autumn weather and scenery, with trees shedding their leaves and fall colors.
- Seasonal daylight hours and temperatures, with more realistic lighting.
- Denser grass that stays visible farther away, with smoother detail transitions and less pop-in.
- Improved rain on the road and windshield, and improved asphalt textures.
What’s new in 4.6
Besides updating it for 1.61, Grimes has improved fair weather, reworked bad weather, added reflections on wet sidewalks and asphalt, and made roads take longer to dry. He recommends pairing it with his Realistic Rain Reflections 2.5 for seasons.
Compatibility
It works with all map DLCs. You need to disable other graphics, weather or HDR mods, such as Realistic Brutal Graphics and Weather. If the fog makes it hard to see, the author offers a no-fog patch in the comments that goes above it. For older game versions there’s 4.5 (1.60), 4.4 (1.59) and 4.3 (1.58).

Requirements

How to install it
- Open the Early Autumn page on Grimes' website.
- Choose the free download (ShareMods) or the ad-free $1 download.
- Copy early_autumn_ats_v4_6.scs to Documents/American Truck Simulator/mod.
- In the Mod Manager, place it at the very top and disable any other weather, graphics or HDR mods.
- In Graphics, set vegetation detail and grass density to High and enable normal maps; if they were off, restart the game.

Common problems
Can I run several Grimes seasons at once?
No. Each one replaces the weather and graphics; enable only one, even if you use the Seasons Pack.
Does it work with the map DLCs?
Yes. The author says it's compatible with all map DLCs.
What is the Seasons Pack?
A separate paid pack ($2.99) with Spring, Summer, Early Fall, Late Fall and Winter for ATS 1.61.
There's too much fog. Can I remove it?
In the comments on his website, the author offers a no-fog add-on that goes above Early Autumn.
