What this mod does

Old buzzy Covet sound is a small mod much loved by BeamNG.drive veterans: it restores the engine sound that the Ibishu Covet, the game’s Japanese compact car, had in older versions. It was a buzzy, loud sound, very different from the current one, and lots of players missed it.

What it does

• Replaces the Covet’s engine sound with the old one.
• The original sound comes from the BeamNG team itself, which the author credits.
• It doesn’t add parts or configurations: as soon as the mod is active, the Covet sounds like this.

History and versions

The author created it in 2018 and has kept it up to date ever since. In November 2022 he adapted it to the refreshed Covet, in July 2026 he released an update for 0.39, and in September 2026 he put out 4.1, which reverts a change from the previous version. According to the author, it works on virtually any version of the game.

Tips

There’s no in-game toggle: the mod’s sound file always takes priority while it’s installed, so if you want to go back to the current sound you’ll have to disable the mod in the Mod Manager. The author rules out making it a selectable engine because you’d have to apply it every time. It’s a file under 1 MB, ideal if you’re after hassle-free nostalgia or want a Covet with more character in your videos.

Requirements

How to install it

1. Open the Old buzzy Covet sound page on the official BeamNG Repository.
2. Click Download to get the .zip, or subscribe from the in-game Repository (Subscribe button).
3. If you download it manually, copy the .zip, without unzipping it, into the mods folder inside your BeamNG.drive user folder (the launcher opens it via Manage User Folder).
4. Launch the game and check in the Mod Manager that it's enabled.
5. Spawn an Ibishu Covet and start the engine: it should have the old sound.
