OpenPipe: Straight-Piped Percheron for BeamNG.drive

What this mod does

OpenPipe, by the dog, is one of the first mods for the Cherrier Percheron, the European cab-over truck that arrived with BeamNG.drive version 0.40. It swaps the DPF and SCR box for a 90 mm straight pipe that exits under the left side skirt, so its 12.8-liter six-cylinder engine sounds like a real big diesel.

What it adds

• Straight pipe with its own sound: no muffler, at the game’s maximum volume, with more roar and more turbo whistle.
• Load-based smoke: clean at idle and cruising, and thick black smoke when you push it.
• Modified turbo with two extra slots.
• Compressor surge: a «tu-tu-tu» when you lift off the throttle after running high boost.
• A «comb» at the turbine outlet, a typical Brazilian truck mod that whistles when you lift off and on every shift.

How it works

Power, torque and boost don’t change. Each part works independently, so you can use the surge or the comb with the stock exhaust; if you fit both, only the comb is heard. The whistle was synthesized from recordings of real trucks, without including their audio.

Before you install it

It only works with the Percheron’s 12.8-liter diesel engine. Don’t leave an unzipped copy in the mods folder alongside the .zip, or the game will load it twice. Remember that removing the DPF from a real truck is illegal in many countries.

How to install it

1. Open the OpenPipe page on the official BeamNG Repository.
2. Click Download to get the .zip, or subscribe from the in-game Repository (Subscribe button).
3. If you download it manually, copy the .zip (don't unzip it) into the mods folder inside your BeamNG.drive user folder (AppData > Local > BeamNG > BeamNG.drive > current > mods).
4. Launch the game and check in the Mod Manager that it's enabled.
5. Spawn a Cherrier Percheron with the 12.8-liter diesel and fit the open exhaust, the modified turbo, the surging compressor or the turbine comb in the configurator.
