What this mod does
Slim heNPC SFX changes how traffic reacts in BeamNG.drive. Instead of just honking, AI drivers throw spoken lines at you, and the police talk during chases too. The author recorded every voice himself.
What’s included
- 186 lines in total: 75 driver lines in German, 50 in English, 31 police lines in German and 30 in English.
- Civilian traffic uses voices about 80% of the time and the original horn the remaining 20%.
- Police lines come from the cars chasing you for as long as the pursuit lasts.
Settings
Languages are set from Esc, Mods section, Slim heNPC SFX. You can turn driver and police voices on separately in German and English. If you enable both languages they get mixed, and if you disable both for drivers, traffic goes back to honking as usual.
Compatibility
The mod page title says it’s compatible with 0.40. It’s designed for regular Freeroam and Career mode, and the author has tested it with RLS Career Overhaul. Version 1.6, from October 2026, adds police voices in both languages. Keep in mind there are no Spanish lines: if you don’t understand German or English, the effect will be mostly ambient. The author asks that it not be reuploaded anywhere else and that people link to the original mod page.

How to install it
- Open the Slim heNPC SFX page on the official BeamNG Repository.
- Click Download to get the .zip, or subscribe from the in-game Repository (Subscribe button).
- If you download it manually, copy the .zip, without unzipping it, into the mods folder inside your BeamNG.drive user folder (the launcher opens it via Manage User Folder).
- Launch the game and check in the Mod Manager that it's enabled.
- In the game, press Esc, go to Mods > Slim heNPC SFX and choose the languages for drivers and police.

Common problems
Are there Spanish voices?
No, only German and English.
Does it work in Career mode?
Yes, it's designed for Freeroam and Career, and tested with RLS Career Overhaul.
Can I go back to the normal horn?
Yes: turn off both driver languages and traffic goes back to honking as usual.
