What this mod does
RLS Pepper Valley is a standalone rework of Johnson Valley, the official desert map in BeamNG.drive. It started as a paved road around the valley for driving trucks and has grown into a map packed with timed activities. It doesn’t replace the original map: it installs as a new one.
What’s included
- A paved road around the map, a new garage and an airport.
- A drag strip with 60-foot, eighth-mile and quarter-mile timers.
- A revamped salt flat for top-speed records.
- A drift area, a timed autocross and a timed off-road track.
- Eight circuits inspired by the 2024/2025 Formula Drift season and two rallycross tracks.
- A small mud route and extra lights for the day-night cycle.
Who it’s for
It’s an off-road and tarmac map in one, perfect if you want to test the same car in drag racing, top speed, drifting and dirt without switching maps. Many players say it improves on the original Johnson Valley in almost every way.
Release notes
Version 2.21 from August 12, 2026 updates the sky for 0.39. Reviews of this version are more lukewarm: several players say the clouds can’t be adjusted or look bad, and one saw missing materials even in Safe Mode. It takes up 1.3 GB, so make sure you have plenty of space.

- About 1.3 GB of free space for the .zip file
How to install it
- Open the RLS Pepper Valley page on the official BeamNG Repository.
- Click Download to get the .zip, or subscribe from the in-game Repository (Subscribe button).
- If you download it manually, copy the .zip, without unzipping it, into the mods folder inside your BeamNG.drive user folder (Documents > BeamNG.drive > current > mods).
- Launch the game and check in the Mod Manager that it's enabled.
- If you had an earlier version, delete it and clear the cache from the launcher.
- Go into Freeroam and pick RLS Pepper Valley; use the in-game map to find the drag strip, autocross and circuits.

Common problems
Does it replace the original Johnson Valley?
No, it's a standalone map; the official one is still available.
Does it need the RLS Career Overhaul mod?
No. It's by the same author, but the mod page doesn't list it as a requirement.
I can't find the drift and rallycross circuits, where are they?
One player had the same problem; check the in-game map and the spawn points from version 2.0 or later.
