What this mod does
Somerset, UK takes BeamNG.drive to the English countryside: gentle hills, farms and narrow roads in cider country. It’s a map of about 5 x 5 km with left-hand traffic, much loved by anyone looking for calm, realistic driving.
What’s included
- Asphalt roads set up for driving on the left.
- Dirt roads that, as the author himself admits, aren’t very realistic for the UK but are fun.
- Four time trials.
- A distant backdrop made with Google Maps and LIDAR data for better views.
Who it’s for
Ideal for cruising British country roads, practicing with a wheel and even in VR: one player says it helped him prepare for his UK driving test. The AI behaves erratically at junctions, and some players notice stutters with traffic.
Version notes
Version 1.9, from February 2026, is the second attempt at fixing the trees that appeared untextured up close. One player confirms the map ran fine on 0.38, but that the tree problem came back with 0.39. The roads are based on those of DoullPepper’s Altitude map, with credit. The author also acknowledges a few floating trees.

How to install it
- Open the Somerset, UK page on the official BeamNG Repository.
- Click Download to get the .zip, or subscribe from the in-game Repository.
- If you download it manually, copy the .zip (don't unzip it) into the mods folder in your user folder (from the launcher: Manage User Folder > Open in Explorer).
- Launch the game, check in the Mod Manager that it's enabled and pick Somerset from the map list.
- Remember that traffic drives on the left.
