What this mod does
Winter West Coast, USA is a winter version of BeamNG.drive’s most popular map. It keeps the West Coast USA layout but covers it in snow and changes the grip of the asphalt, so driving through the city, on the highway or on the mountain roads becomes a whole different experience.
What changes
- Snowy roads with reduced friction, allowing drifts that aren’t possible on the normal map.
- Normal grip inside the tunnels and most buildings.
- A frozen ocean and deep snow off the asphalt.
- The original map’s night lighting and a custom temperature curve.
- Tire marks on the road and more realistic intersections since the December 2025 update.
Who it’s for
If you like drifting, practicing car control with little grip or doing bus routes and roleplay in a familiar but different setting, this map gives West Coast a second life. It’s also useful for testing winter tires and all-wheel drive.
Release notes
To keep its size down, the mod pulls textures and objects from the original West Coast. The downside is that some textures can break with each game version until the author releases a fix. 0.39.1 (August 5, 2026) fixes the textures for 0.39, brings back the night lighting and removes leftover files.

Requirements
- BeamNG.drive 0.39
- No other mods needed (uses files from the stock West Coast USA)
How to install it
- Open the Winter West Coast, USA page on the official BeamNG Repository.
- Click Download or subscribe from the in-game Repository.
- If you download it manually, copy the .zip (don't unzip it) into the mods folder in your user folder.
- If you had an older version, clear the cache from the launcher to avoid broken textures.
- In Freeroam, pick Winter West Coast, USA from the map list.
- Fit winter tires or use all-wheel drive if you want to drive with some control.

Common problems
Some trees or tunnels show up without textures
It happens when a game version changes file paths in the original map. Make sure you have 0.39.1 and clear the cache.
Does it work on servers?
The author gives the level path for servers: /levels/winter_west_coast_usa/info.json.
The glass looks weird with Vulkan
The author warns that this happened in versions before 0.39; it shouldn't happen on 0.39.
Can I upload it to another site?
No. The author asks that it not be reuploaded and that its assets not be extracted.
