What this mod does
Skeleton Coast loosely recreates the coast of southwestern Africa where the Namib Desert meets the Atlantic. It’s one of the top-rated maps on the BeamNG.drive Repository and stands out for its size and the sheer amount of things to do.
What’s included
- An 8×8 km base map with drivable background terrain of about 60×15 km.
- A 70 km highway connecting the coast with the interior.
- Several towns, including Vogelsangbay, Horseshoe Bay and Twaalfontein, with their own buildings and props.
- Desert, dunes, mountains, scrubland and beaches with dirt tracks.
- Areas for roleplay and hauling: shops, industry, mining, farms, logistics and tourism.
- Places to explore on foot (interiors, mines, caves) and an island you reach by boat.
- Airfields, a dirt circuit, Namibian road signs, license plates and custom configurations.
Who it’s for
If you like long road trips, off-roading or roleplay with trucks and vans, you’ve got hours of gameplay here. That said, it’s demanding: the author warns that with BeamNG.drive’s minimum requirements you may be short on FPS and recommends a PC that meets the recommended specs.
Release notes
Version 1.301 from August 12, 2026, makes the map run properly on 0.39 (missing textures and objects), reworks the night lighting with windows that light up and fixes traffic in many areas. The author suggests playing with the day-night cycle turned on.

Common problems
Why am I getting low FPS?
The map is very large and heavy; the author warns that it may not run well with the game's minimum requirements. Lower the graphics quality or the view distance.
The airstrip asphalt behaves like dirt, is it something on my end?
No, it's a known bug the author acknowledges; the rest of the roads should be fine.
Is it paid?
No. The author explains he considered selling it but decided to release it for free; he has a Ko-fi for voluntary donations.
