What this mod does
DBM Heavy Overload, by Claude Shannon, makes heavy cargo in Euro Truck Simulator 2 actually heavy: between 80 and 400 metric tons. With that much weight, hills, braking and your choice of gear matter again.
What it changes
- Base game: seven machinery loads now weigh 80 to 400 t (mini excavator, cotton harvester, excavator, material handler, large excavator, wind turbine lowboy and the overweight load).
- Large 4- and 5-axle lowboys and low-bed trailers allow up to 450 t gross; the small 2- and 3-axle ones keep their limits.
- Pay per kilometer goes up to make up for the weight.
- Heavy Cargo Pack: its 11 loads become 80-227 t. Special Transport: its 16 loads become 80-400 t. Both DLCs are optional and load automatically if you own them; their models don’t change.
Tips and compatibility
Above 200 t you need a 6×6 or 8×8 chassis, a powerful engine and a very short first gear; the author includes them in DBM Engine & Transmissions Refresh. With a stock 4×2, it’s hard to pull away and to brake going downhill.
It’s made and tested for 1.61. It conflicts with mods that change the same loads or the original lowboys. It goes in the top group of the DBM series load order and above maps like ProMods or RusMap.

Common problems
Do I need any DLC?
No. It works with the base game; Heavy Cargo Pack and Special Transport are added automatically if you own them.
My truck won't pull away with the load
Above 200 t, the author recommends a 6x6 or 8x8 chassis with a powerful engine and a short first gear, like the ones in DBM Engine & Transmissions Refresh.
Does it work on 1.60?
The author has only tested it on 1.61; earlier versions aren't supported.
