What this mod does
DBM Lighting Nova is the lighting mod in Claude Shannon’s DBM series for Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.61 and 1.62. It changes the sun, sky, fog and nighttime across the whole map.
What it changes
- 17,204 light values across 68 sun profiles (34 sun heights, in good and bad weather).
- 205 sky textures made from 27 HDR photos from Poly Haven (CC0 license), with 16 weather types and 15 night skies with the Milky Way.
- Darker nights, with readjusted headlights, brake lights and turn signals.
- Under overcast skies, shadow strength drops from 1.00 to 0.14 and the fog gets thicker.
- A filmic tone curve that changes throughout the day, and roads that stay wet longer after rain.
Load order
It goes above texture mods, in slot 01 of the DBM series, below Headlights Plus. Maps such as ProMods or RusMap go below all the DBM mods. It replaces other weather, lighting and sky mods, so use only one.
Version and performance
Version 1.4.3 brings a new sun based on a NASA photo and removes the white dots on the asphalt joints. It weighs in at almost 5 GB; with the full DBM pack in 4K, the author measures 12 to 13 GB of VRAM.

Requirements
- Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.61 or 1.62
- About 5 GB of free space
- A graphics card with enough VRAM (with 8 GB, the author recommends lowering texture quality or scaling)
- A Steam account
How to install it
- Open the “DBM Lighting Nova - Realistic Sun, Sky & Night 1.61-1.62” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch Euro Truck Simulator 2 and wait for Steam to download the nearly 5 GB.
- In the Mod Manager, enable the mod.
- Place it above texture mods, such as DBM Road Textures, and below DBM Headlights Plus.
- Keep ProMods, RusMap and any other maps below all the DBM mods.
- Disable any other weather, lighting or sky mods.

Can I use it with another weather mod?
No. It replaces other weather, lighting and sky mods: use only one.
Does it work in Convoy?
Yes, the author marks it as optional in Convoy.
What do I do if the game crashes while loading?
The author recommends raising Windows virtual memory to 32 GB.
